Jason and I blocked the rear end tonight. It should still settle an inch or more front and back. That'll be just right for a bagless driver. I mean I plan on driving it to Detroit for Billetproof. Then we cut the bottom half off the old grille to see what the Buick would look like. What do you think?

Jason is in there for a height reference.

I was thinkin' skirts but after we mocked them up they're going away.

Those are Buick grille teeth aren't they? [IMG] I acquired a bunch of them last fall to do the exact same thing to the grille opening on my 46. I haven't gotten started yet but at least now I now it looks right. The car is looking good man.

  6. Looking awesome...

    Tail is PERFECT..lights look******in'.
Rear Without skirts looks best...But I like them on two..anyway to keep them so they can be easily put on removed...flush with wheel arch???

    Love the Hubcaps...Plymouth? Stude?

The front has to have slim chrome rims or frenched lights.
Grille is bit too teethy for me..big floating chrome bar my pic!

Damn..i want on of these now....

    Cheers

The chop is sweet and the stance looks great. I'm not sure about the grille either. It would probably grow on me.
So, you're bringing yours to Michigan? I guess I won't be the only one there with a '46-'48. Mine's not chopped so we'll be able to tell 'em apart. [IMG]

Jason's only like 5'4" tall. Nearly a midget!

I think the grill looks pretty good, the grill teeth are the same matching shape as the rib going down the center of your hood. How successfull the grill comes out might depend on what that upper grille bar looks like in the end. Is it going to be body color or chrome?

I think I'd like it more without the skirts, but if ya keep 'em...maybe roll that rear pan???

I also vote no on the skirts. It looks mean without them.

I vote yes on the grill. It will take some finessing, but I think it's a great, unique start.

Got your email. I'll keep an eye out for the package. Thanks!

    dude,

you're askin' for opinions, so here's mine:

    lose the skirts

    roll the rear pan

    no bumpers, front or back

don't do the vertical grill teeth

when you french the headlights do so as subtly as possible. i.e., just weld the trim rings on, fill, paint body color, and mount the light fixtures from the back. i'm pretty sure that some ford trim rings are stainless and others are mild steel. if yours are ss then find some mild steel ones.

    good job so far

oh yeah, post pix of whatever you do when it's "done"

  24. It's going to be impossible to look at a grill properly until you get all the metal primed the same color. Now it looks like it's got a mustache and goatee with a bling-bling grin inbetween. I can't look at it now without thinking "Greased Lighting" since you told me that's the same grille. Definitely like the no skirt look with those wheel/tires/caps.

It looks the same above, but in this**************, it's just flat stock.

The overall contour of the car is fabulous. I am not a fan of skirts, so my opinion on that is probably too predictable. I do think (since you asked) that the vertical grille teeth fight with the chopped, smoothed and lowered (visually widened) car. Not that it should have a stock grille, but something with more horizontal emphasis. By the way, this opinion is worth every bit of what you paid for it....... Very nice work overall.

looking killer kirk. I that the grill could work, but will take a more ovalized opening maybe?

Just playing around with putting a floater in there and molding the upper bar into more of a suround instead of square opening. Hard to really tell without the bumper and headlights on it, but you get the drift.

I'm not diggin' the grill either, but the rest is bad****. Especially without the skirts.

  30. Kirk think about this......'53 chevy grille surround -molded in[no spears around fender corner]-4-5 horizontal bar grille-Then use a pair of 53 Buick headlight rings and turn signals
