    I had one of those vehicles, formerly owned by some roughneck with a welder. It was a 61 IHC pickup, and it had several of those type "modifications". One was a steel shaft, about 6" dia,x 36" long with 6x4 angle iron welded to the ends. It was bolted to the rear frame horns, for traction in the winter.

    This was his generator mount. I removed it when I put an alternator in the truck, but I sorta hated tossing out this masterpiece, & it's been hanging around my garage since 1972.

    That bolt allowed the generator belt to be pushed into a bit straighter alignment
