ya exactly. I already have one shiny one with the coupe. Actually really looking forward to just getting in the 56 and driving it and not worrying about it being "dirty"! :) The rest of the body has the perfect amount of natural patina so it will look anything but one of those fake patina jobs and the body is straight with no dents anywhere. Can't wait to get behind the wheel

I don’t recall if I said it before on this thread? Those greens were the original colors on my 56 when it rolled out the factory.

In a perfect world it's not my first choice vs all the other two tone options for tri fives but it's the original color of the car with all the history to go along with it. I do love the 50's colors that GM sprayed on. Cool time period

Scored this original hood bar for a great price off a nice gent on trifive.com The last piece to the stainless puzzle happy to say. The one thing I sure liked about building the coupe is it had a hell of a lot less parts!

Pinecrest sprayed on the body today. Doors tomorrow. Will let it cure nice for a few days then scuff the whole thing down to be closer to the finish of the original paint.

Doors sprayed. I'll let them sit for the week then I'll start some scuffing to age them. Thinking I'll hang them on the car so I can have the rest of the body to view and match up the worn look as close as possible.

Hung the doors and started on scuffing the paint and adding some aged look to blend it with the new. Overall pretty happy with the outcome. Once I apply the sealer i'm guessing the pinecrest will darken up closer to the original stuff. Finally got the good news that the motor is done. Will be making the trip down to Kelowna this week or next to see it run on the dyno and bring it home.

Something about this color combo just looks so right on a '56. Love the progress you are making here.

Looks good Fitness, real good...there was a 55 chevy I took parts off years and years ago in and old garage that was that color...did they carry them over?

I made a new mounting panel for the electrical as I needed more space for wires vs the first panel I made to mount in the other opening. Once I have the motor back then I'll start on running wires.

Fantastic!! Pinecrest and sherwood green. Love it. That color match looks dead on, or damn close anyway.

  18. Any updates? Your build is my inspiration to do mine. Although I am going at a slower pace.

  20. Yeah I am not sure what happened with this one. I was all inspired by it and now it is dead. As an owner of a more door I was interested in the build..

Back by popular demand here is a nice big update on the 56. Car is essentially done and went for a small maiden voyage on Sunday. I slow down and really take my time at the back end of a build to be careful double checking stuff and making sure I'm not rushing and making stupid mistakes. Did have an older steel flex fan that apparently had a crack in one of the blades take out my brand new Cold Case rad on the second engine startup... That was a piss off buuut could always be worse. New original style horn for the 150 is giving me grief. Sporadically kicks on which after doing some reading on trifive.com seems to be related to the new replacement upper horn/bearing ring for the original columns. Can ground out on the steering shaft. Haven't quite licked that challenge but we'll get there. New original style temp gauge/sender for the cluster basically didn't work so ordered up a matching custom temp gauge from Classic Industries and fabbed a new three gauge under dash mount. My OCD would kill me not knowing the exact temp of the motor! Other little piddly shit to button up but for the most part we're at the finish line. Still have to install the remainder of the interior. Having an upholstery shop do the headliner install which they can't do until July. Have to say I love the stance of the Roadster Shop frame. Here's a link to my instagram showing a quick vid of part of the first drive.
