  5. We are Thrilled to give you some long awaited updates! We are shooting for EPIC! Bring the whole family, mark September 13-14th on your calendar and don't miss this one!

    Big News.....

    1. We are working on a HUGE partnership with Georgetown, they are thrilled to have us and offering their full support! That means more perks for the spectators and participants.
    2. Historic Georgetown, Inc. is offering to host a beer (Tommy Knocker) and wine garden (Canyon Wind Cellars) for the Hot Rod Hill Climb event in the courtyard of the Hamill House (1879) Read more about HGI here http://www.historicgeorgetown.org/

    3. Super 8 Motel in Georgetown has rooms, I met the manager Chet, I looked at a few rooms, its a Super 8. They have extended a 10% room discount to 'Hot Rod Hill Climb' attendees. There were 30+ rooms on Thursday. Be sure and tell them you are coming for the 'Hot Rod Hill Climb'.
    4. Georgetown is working to make more parking available in town so we do not have to park at the lake. I foresee this as specialty parking for pre-1965 vehicles that are preregistered (more to follow on preregistering)
    5. Canyon Wind Cellars is offering a discount to Hot Rod Hill Climb attendees, they have a super nice storefront off the roundabout when you come into town. Please be sure to stop and visit.
    6. We are working with Lucha Cantina at the Red Ram to provide drink specials and a Saturday night Burlesque show. Their Luchita is also awesome dont forget the home made chips and queso!
    7. The Georgetown Mountain Inn is the Host Hotel for the event, preference will be given to Hill Climb participants.
    8. We are working with a school downtown and with the Recreation center to provide an AWESOME place for the kids to hang out, playgrounds, and bouncy house!
    9. The Georgetown Loop Railroad has made a special departure "Beer & Brat" dinner train for us on the evening of September 13th, departs at 6:30 (ride is 2 hour approx). Limited Seats @ 31.95! BOOK NOW with Susan 1-888-456-6777, Tell her you are with the Hot Rod Hill Climb!
    10. Tim at Bragg Automotive was totally awesome, he is going to make his tow trucks available for the event (hopefully we do not need them). He also offered his lot for parking the day of the show.
    11. The Gateway Visitor Center at the roundabout in Georgetown has our shirts!

For the Locals - We will be at the Season Opener of the Golden Super Cruise this weekend May 4th! We'll be set up with shirts and postcards with event details. We plan to be near the Sonic on one side or the other. Look for a 10x10 white EZ-Up with our black and cream logo.

    Subscribe for more updates soon!!

    Thank you for the support!

And here is a photo that the current owner sent over (I dont have a current picture of the car yet, but it is BEAUTIFUL!)

The Forney Museum is going to bring the Plymouth PB Roadster, this one is just like the one Del Wilson raced at the 1953 hot Rod Hill Climb!

I had a really nice visit with Ron Leslie today, he is excited to come to the 60th Anniversary as he was not there in 1953.

Perhaps a little off the hill climb idea, but I've always thought some of the the best cars / drivers in pre-60s America were... wait for it... moonshiners! Up hill, down hill, pavement or gravel, left, right, quick, and brave. I think they'd make a fine addition to any vintage hill climb or road racing event. And perhaps vintage rally cars or "specials" also? Like those that ran in the old Carrera Panamerica? Gary

  23. Yes deffo include the Allard, they started off as early Ford stripped down specials (the Original English hot rod) - and as a Brit it will be great to see it go up the hill.

Just picked up another car as well that I might enter with the roadster! 39 sedan that was hot rodded back in 53!

If you're having trouble finding rooms, i might suggest something in summit county. Dillon, frisco, silverthorne. Its my favorite vacation spot and always plenty to do and beyond cool scenery. Its about 30 minutes west of georgetown on i-70, just past eisenhower tunnel.

Nifty road. A surprising number of big-ol rocks close to the road, eh? Would the Sierra Club protest if some were moved? Very nice spot to impound the cars before their return trip, too. Gary

Mike, this is going to be a truly amazing event and I wish you all the luck with it.
The event that we just had at Prescott over here (also the first of its kind) was a great success and everybody had a ball. Here's a link if anyone wants to have a look:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=804991
