Denise came by today with Big Olds to pick up her hood, so her, CherryBlossom, Jake the neighbor kid and I all decided to go for a little cruise. while we were out we stopped by my good friend Dan's place where he had just aquired a new project. it's a kick ass little 19-somethin Dodge with an old inline flathead Dodge six. it is such a cool little ride that was originaly started (but never finished) back in the day. i should have paid more attention and i'd know when and by who but i do remember the original builders last name was Allen, hence the Allen Special monicur. check out the home made quick change. i'll try to keep ya'll updated as my Friend Dan Turner finishes this little gem of his.
Sweet project! Man, makes me wish I'd hung on to my '24 Dodge in high school. Forgotton all about the wooden steering wheel. Yeah, it'll be great seeing your updates on it!
here is an old Oliver tractor grill shell the original builder had planed for the little roadster but Dan is thinking it owuld look better on the wall and is looking for something else to go up front.
this body is UNBELIEVABLY solid. especialy for anything thats been in Michigan more than a week. both doors open and close perfectly and there is'nt a rust hole in the body anywhere...
That's really a GREAT find. Hope to get to see it this summer. BTW how about some pics of HRLC's hood. I'm sure it's good super.
I must say for the record, the previous owner started this car in the late 80's early 90's...the reason it never got done is beyond me..he is an amasing machinist and can build anything. He also has a great eye... I hope Dan doesn't go to far from where it is, I know Jim had a hard time selling it. It does look killer ahh!!
MATT!! long time. glad you could shed some light. i was too busy drooling over it to pay attention to the details of the story. i do believe the plan is to keep the sixer and make very few changes to the car as far as asthetics go.
Here's mine, 1917 Dodge, still has the original key in the ignition. I had a 1918 Dodge too. They looked the same. Here's a picture of my 1917. It'll be at the HAMB Drags, hope to see your friends there. Dean
[ QUOTE ] That's pretty cool. Anyone notice the factory hidden hinges? Nice detail. Mart. [/ QUOTE ] i sure did. pretty cool stuff!!
[ QUOTE ] What is that transmission that the tractor grille shell is resting on ? [/ QUOTE ] I WAS GONNA ASK HIM THAT BUT FORGOT. IT SURE IS A TINY LITTLE THING.
Cool little project. That quickie is just too cool for words. I wish the doors on my dodge were as good as those. Looks like the same doors too. Clark
