I think the modern generations have moved on.

    Drifting
    Mud bogs
    Rock crawling
    F1
    E-everything
    Drone racing

    Enjoy it while we can...

Interesting rear wheels with a hefty amount of positive offset. Early Olds Tornado?

yes, you can see the license plate in another picture I took. I bet it has some history if he's hanging out with that Willys.

I really like the Bad News Fiat. He went through a lot of effort to maintain the look while being drivable.

Agreed. And it is not as easy as it seems to make a race car streetable. I am doing just that on my champ car. In addition to the expected uprades to make it street legal like lighting, horn, wipers, there are some significant changes needed in the cooling system, charging system, fuel system, the transmission and clutch, springs and shocks, four wheel brakes, mufflers, and maybe bumpers and fenders, depending on local laws. Add in street legal tires and the engineering and costs can be significant.
But wow!, can you imagine pulling into a gas station or a cruise night in the 'Bad News' altered? Awesome

BTW, I'll never build a race car without power windows and a horn.
The power windows for when you are sitting in the car, totally suited up, when it is 90* out and the track temp is 140* and you're going nowhere, and your arm restraints keep you from cranking down a window or removing your helmet. Also handy for when you are picking up your time slip.
The horn for when you are driving through the pits and fans are seemingly obvlious to you approaching them.

Maybe we need a thread on street driven altereds?

I had this to the strip 3 times last year, not real fast but a lot of fun. Bought it as a very very unfinished project.

"A fuel altered driver with narcolepsy? Yes, Ol' Willie could fall asleep anywhere, anytime. When he suited up and crawled
in the race car, the crew would check to see if he was sleeping in the car while waiting in the staging lanes. Also, did
you know Borsch drove a top fuel dragster in the mid-1960's? Yes, Willie made a few runs in the Muse, Crafton and Oaks top
fuel car. After a couple of runs, Borsch decided he didn't like the view or lack of one from the cockpit. Willie retreated to the roadster and an unknown driver got his first topfuel ride, that driver was Steve "The Mandrill" Carbone."

Willie and Leon Fitzgerald both tried funny cars, neither liked being enclosed and bailed. Oddly enough, I know where that mask is.:)
