I don't know if it was the same day but I have posted a couple more back a ways showing it close up and a couple more of it running like that. Nobody ever came out and told the story of what happened.
loudbang, the missing header photos that you posted were of Rich Guasco's Pure Hell car (when it was still Chevy powered). Roo

From Bangkok Dean comes one of the most memorable photos in this thread. Four of the most popular Fuel Altereds from the West coast. Starting from left Pure Hell (look likes Dale Emery in the Reath T shirt), Rich Guasco next to him. Then Leon Fitzgerald's Pure Heaven ( may be Leon in the white hat) Then Marcellius & Borsch with Willie behind the roadster. Mondello & Matsubara with Sush in front of the coupe.
The Model A with the front wire wheels actually had two SBCs. Belonged to a guy named Lee Johnson from Flint, Michigan.

A late 50's Gordon Nunemaker shot from either Toledo Municipal Airport or the airstrip in Tecumseh, MI. Sorry I have no ID on the Olds powered coupe or the guys that raced it. Roo
loudbang, your caption from your Vintage shots post in July of last year: "All these are from International Raceway Park in 1963". Roo
