History The Astorian 55 Chev

Here it is, was at a small car show in South Lyon Michigan, summer of 1983.

Too bad the caption about the headlight project doesn't mention what bezels were used.

Piece of cake. Only a 3 page project. I really like the last picture. Would like to see one closer to stock, but with the chop.

 

I would love to see some pics of the frame. according to this article the front was "Z"ed. I am curious to see what it looks like.

 

Interesting that the name was misspelled in the above article. ("Astrian".)

I am not a regular on this site so I needed to sign up to get a message thru. My name is Jim Cheek and I wrote and photographed an early 80's article about this car for Street Rodder. We shot it in Ann Arbor Mi I believe I still have a few copies kicking around. Jack Florence is still in Flushing Michigan that last time I heard. I also did an article on Jack's Gold Carson top Merc.

 

They look like 61-63 T-bird inserts, but the screw heads look bigger on the car, unless they had to drill them out a bit bigger to make them work for some reason.

 

You're gonna need a bigger garage!

I have my issue (well my dads old mags anyway) I remember that car in a magizine from long ago. Such a cool ride.

 

Show the people what the interior looks like. This is a car you won`t forget after seeing it in person. Not meaning it`s a bad thing. Could it of been at the KKOA show in Springfield Ohio in 83. I know I`ve seen it somewhere. Very kool car. Looking forward to seeing it again.

I just found a colored picture of it in a magazine called Custom Cars put out by Hot Rod. It was at the Des Moines KKOA show in 82 which I was at. So it could of been in Springfield the following year.

 

I think those quads are from a tbird- they're different from 61 to 62 a little bit- and I was just thinking that I wanted to see that car next to the blue one and there they are... this thing is Rad!

Had to find this after you mentioned it in the KKOA 82 JJ post. What a neat car. I've been a hot rod guy from birth but I gotta itch for a custom...
