Mark, as I as going through the old show photos on Rik's page (looking for the HOPCAT Buick) I came across these two. Didn't know if you had seen these. (From Scott Pavey's 1980's Photos)
Congrats, there Mark. Deserving car for more magazine coverage! Gotta say, those flames didn't help. Wrong effect on a custom like The Astorion.
@Moriarity serious deja vu here, I swear I saw a striper doing the lettering on the cove over the sidepipe - but it would have been at a KKOA meet in Des Moines, in the early '80s - did this happen or am I hallucinating?
That was striped by rotten Ron at the Kkoa leadsled show in Des Moines in 82 for Rodney Rice Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It's a funny contrast on how similar the front ends are on the two 55's but yet how the rear ends are on totally different spectrums.
Must be nice to be able to have your own car shows whenever you want. Always in awe at the variety of the customs you've acquired.
Heard from Chadly that the next issue of traditional rod and kulture will have the feature of the Astorian in it Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Spoke with the original owner for about 45 minutes at Autorama this year..kind of cool he worked for AMT back in the day..
never knew that.... cool, did the subject of the Astorian come up? he was pretty tore up over selling it. I felt pretty bad for him as I was leaving with it
