I've got a B banger with a Chevrolet rear main seal. When replacing the rear main seal, does the crankshaft need to be removed, dropped out of the way, or left where it is?

I was just talking to Dan Iandola about this car a few weeks ago. Dan's been in the 4 ever 4 club since the 50's and I think one of the Mancillas family was a member back then too or at least hanging out with the club as a kid. Anyway Dan told me the only run the twin engine rail made was down the L.A. river bed when the car was new. It cracked the frame and never ran again. Only used as a show car now.

Back in the mid 90s Al and Eddie Mancillias cast up their own heads. Featured SBC valve train and chambers, D shaped exhaust ports. Nice deal. They offered their own intake manifolds too which if I remember right had a removable top so you could run any combo of carbs.

  12. Speaking of casting heads- I posted these pics in J Man's thread on rodding a T engine, but thought you all might like to see them as well. They're off the MTFCA forum... anyone up for some "new" Rajo parts?

Heres a question, Is it doable to have a few thousands milled off a Model A head? as to increase the compression? Instead of buying a new performance head

    Bill,
My car is a scratch built frame so the rear trans mount is custom. The one I did for my dads A truck is in a stock frame. Here is a couple pictures:

This set up is with the A bell housing. If you use the AA bell housing the shifter would be @ 1 7/8" further forward.

I don't know Bill. Whenever it was that you could still get away with running a car down the river bed!

Jim Brierley, Dan Iandola's long time friend who joined the club at almost the same time is on this board. He'd know the answer for sure.

Tomcats 40, that is what I used, your A steering joints use a ball and this arm you have listed uses a tie rod end, you can either come up with a new drag link or have a ball machined with a tapered stud on , ( they may sell one ), I made mine.

    thanks crazyd...
I was going to use the AA bell housing I have 5 but with the shifter back
1 7/8 that looks like it would cut the crossmember it in half. Could the crossmember be moved back 2"? I think I see a new x member coming.

Alright guys- I have been sifting through old banger threads for hours now. Anyone know where I can find a basic banger 12v wiring setup/diagram/ pics of engine bays with wires run/ ANYTHING!

I am so close and have NO wiring clue!

    Bill,
The AA bell will position the shifter 1 7/8" closer to the engine. That means you would cut the crossmember less.

    Polecat,

This is the basis of the system I used for my car. It is very basic, but I don't think you will need much more. Follow the link.
