Thanks Germ. All that stuff just added to the fact that George was here in Calgary this past weekend for the World of Wheels. Got him to autograph an old MOON disk to add to the other one he autographed for me back in '96. And BTW, the ladies were STILL under his spell!!
I'll see him in Indy on Friday. I'll let him know that there is some guy on the internet that really, really loves him. Neat stuff.
Easily the best post I've seen on here in a long, long time. More,More and then some more of this. You can't ever have too much of this type of stuff.
Neat stuff Germ, thanks! burtrido and4t64rd,I have an article on that bobbed T,I'll scan & send if you'd like.
[ QUOTE ] real PROOF from a MOTOR LIFE photo shoot [/ QUOTE ] Anyone have any more pics of this car? I'd love to see them. -r
That shoebox ford is nice, I like it. Looks like it might have been repainted or the pinstriping wore off. Also it looks like they put different lenses in the tail lights. The ones in the old pics show a solid lens. The ones Ryan took shows a thin body colored bar between the lens. later plmczy

The ones on it now look like something from the seventies. The molded portion is also changed to fit the new lights. The spots were removed and the headlight frenching looks different too - although that may just be different lenses. I would hope that the tailights were changed because the car got hit in the rear, not beause the owner thought it looked better.
[ QUOTE ] Anyone have any more pics of this car? I'd love to see them. -r [/ QUOTE ] Isn't that Jr. Conway's, brother's 54 ford?
That car ryan posted is alot different then the original, but it is the same car.... I think the reason GEORGE was so interested in it was because it was way out in ohio, I mean you have to think he was traveling the world, and encountering KUSTOMS was still somewhat of a rather new thing.... The notes on the back of the picture are really cool I will try to post them,,,, He was big on the alexander bros, (probably the only reason we even feel a SOFT SPOT for the "GAY MICHIGAN *****ES")(tm) I'm going to post some more pictures this weekend,,, Unless you dont want anymore... I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE would be interested in GATHERING up the ONES I HAVE POSTED SO FAR on the LAST POSTS, and making sort of a CATALOG of them until I get finished building my ****BOXES WEBSITE thats in the works.. I would love to be able to post several differnt versions of the pics, that way you can even read them,, maybe do some close ups.. I'm kinda DUMB and dont even know how to make a web page or store photos, me and Jimmy White are the dumbest at computers,, Jimmys wife saves the day.......... I have some kids working on the ****BOXES site, It wont be very fancy, but then again neither am I,, RYAN come clean with the one you did for PIC***O, that site or page is ****ING BRILLIANT... XOXOOX GERM
[ QUOTE ] I'm going to post some more pictures this weekend,,, Unless you dont want anymore... [/ QUOTE ] more is always welcome, alot of us dont see artifacts like these. thanks for posting them

Randy, that grounds****ing 52 Victoria belonged to Jerry Quesnell from Venice, Ca. Herb Conway owned a 54 Merc that was equally as low. Not sure of the mag coverage on Jerry's car tho. Mick
Germ- I sent you a few e-mails. Send me the highres version of those files and I'll gladly host them for you. In the mean time, here's what you wanted. Awesome collection. Send me the high quality ones. -Dane
**** Reynolds, could you email me your Signature pic? I need it for uh research. Isn't it weird how the road Dean bought it on meanders back and forth across the "new" highway?
Yeah, thanks Lurker Mick. My first p***ion being mid-19th cent. American history, I am always impressed at a real grasp and appreciation for history, whatever the era. That's one of the things that makes this post so f-in unbelieveable. On one hand germ's stuff has collector worth, which makes it valuable to those that have the money. On the other hand the stuff is a PRICELESS link to a common heritage that we (hambers, rodders, customers, err..) hold dear. It's like knowing that the Hirohata Merc is still on this earth. It makes me happy to know that someone cared enough to preserve it so that I can look at it and appreciate the era/ atmosphere that it was built in. This stuff has value beyond what some jack*** on e-bay would pay for it. That's one of my real problems with the new e-bay culture. EVERYTHING has a price tag. So... thanks for sharing this stuff. -r
I don't care about the VALUE of the items, I think it would be much more fun to put them on display someplace so PEOPLE with TRUE P***ION for yesterdays HEROES, can ENJOY them,,,, I have spent thousands and THOUSANDS on ERA COLLECTABLES, probably spent more on the ARTIFACTS of HISTORY then I have building hot rods,,,I would much rather call the guy who has the Dobbie Gillis car, and tell him hey I need to send you this thing that goes with "YOUR CAR"... I would guess the stuff is worth alot of money, but to me it's worth more then money, I spend my free time researching the history,, DAIGN thanks bro,, thats perfect for me,,, NITROS on GERM,,,,,,,,,,, I have a collection of PUNK ROCK artifacts that would BLOW your MIND,,, The barris stuff is PERSONAL, because I truely get a kick out of GEORGE and the HISTORY gives me the chills... I will post some other stuff,, I seen barris **** go for more then I could shell out at that time, but I spent 600 on an old business card, signed by Jeffries on the back, and 800 for a racist letter VON DUTCH wrote,,, That old **** is the CULTURE, before the KULTURE came along and RUINED it, with FASHION and ***GOTRY(tm) I have alot of info on that FORD RANDY, I will look it all up,,, and see what is left,,,, I liked the proof from motorlife. germ
Well I hope this makes you feel better Germ: While at the Detroit Autorama today, I was talking to the nice lady at the Mooneyes booth, and we got on the subject of Von Dutch the fashion designer... I told her what Kritz and I tell our customers (No, Von Dutch isn't a new clothing designer, it's a new Gay S&M bar in California), and she thought it was HILARIOUS! She said that's what she's gonna start telling the uneducated as well!
"ONE OF THE CARS that get your **** HARDER then...." I've seen a copy of this car last year, at the NHRA museum... Can't rmember who built it, but it looked absolutely *****in'!!!
Germ, in addition to the Moon disks (two are going in a charity auction; and one for me) that George Barris autographed for me; he ALSO autographed a couple of his business cards. If you would like one for your collection of Barris items; PM your snail mail addy to me and I'll send one to you.... NO CHARGE! P.S. - are you going to Bonney this year??
DAVE, I missed B-ville last year for some sadness I was going through,,,(A suicide of a best girlfriend I grew up with) I will be there this year with one of my hot rods, I just sold the SECRET MODIFIED, so I will work on a model a,, I will be there with maybe SAMIYAM or SKIPPY,,,and maybe I can get the *** AXLE to come enjoy me in one of them outhouses... I would feel guilty about taking the business card from you dave,,because I have so much already,, How about if you auction it for the HAMB or for my *** CHANGE op, so I can have COLES baby... XOXOX germ
"my *** CHANGE op, so I can have COLES baby..." There you go, you could be the Den mother for the local Cub Scout Pack too.
Answer your PHONE, Mr.Ghost-Writer-Big-Shot....I have it on good faith from Grace Slick you can talk on the phone and crank at the same time....if you **** up my book contract,I'm gonna have Arnold anull your GAYE NUPTUALS...
[ QUOTE ] I would feel guilty about taking the business card from you dave,,because I have so much already. germ [/ QUOTE ] Truth is he autographed a couple. And I can't think (or know) of a better person to take care of one for the sake of BARRIS HISTORY! Send addy and; see you at Bonney!
Germ, Here is a pix that I showed George the last time he was in the KC area and I asked him if that was him. He said "Yep, that was my old race car" and then he pulled out his sharpie and signed it. I really did not want him to sign it, just wanted to know if that was him when he was younger. He also signed a Rod's and Restyle mag for me. Here is the pix. Chris Nelson Kansas
Incredible collection... I met Mr Barris last year at VLV, and it was as close as a religious experience this secular humanist will ever encounter. Though, to be honest, he spent far more time talking to my wife about her pinstripe-tattooed back (and who has big ***s) than to me.
Was at the Hot Rod and Restoration Trade Show today. Robert E. Peterson gave George a lifetime achievement award to him. Then they sat on stage and George told some stories and answered some questions for about an hour. I loved the one on how he aquired the casket for Herman Munsters drag car as well as getting pulled over driving the Batmobile for a TV Guide cover shoot with the bat chutes out... I have a better feel for the guy now and realize how reciepts, cancelled checks, and simple pictures; which might seem like normal items to most,,, mean so much to you.
