51' Pontiac Chieftain So, aside the standard size. Which I have no issue with, these batteries are essentially the same thing, and cost after tax+ almost 100.00 of difference! Am I just paying for the 2E size? I think so, this batter I'm look'n to pick up tomorrow is comparable, if not better in the places it needs to be. The 2E, the long slender style. It is the correct size. However, I have the clearance and battery tray to deal with the other size. Lots of room under that hood with the lil' ol' straight six.
Probably has more to do with the economies of scale-cheaper to make more of the modern size than a specialized old size-than the quality of the product. But, if you're changing batteries and not restoring to stock,, why not just convert to 12 volts?
