    Yes, I said it.

It was the best Kustom Kemps of America event that I've been to. I was at
the first KKOA specatular 25 years ago and it was always the best one until
this weekend. 500 plus Kustoms and Hot Rods from all over North America
were in Salina and it was unreal. I'm still Buzzed.

It was so good, I didn't take one picture. Sorry, I was too busy soaking it
in. Besides talking to all of the legendary Kustom kats: Hines, Winfield, Starbird,
etc.,, I had the opportunity to meet Bo Huff and talk to Gary "Chop it" Fioto.
They're really kool guys and had a good time talking shop.

If you missed it, I feel sorry for ya. You missed the koolest "KUSTOM" event in the midwest.

If you're a "TRUE KUSTOM" guy, you'll attend next years show.

    Great Job Jerry!!!!!!!

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Excellent show. Good laid back atmosphere with lots of cool stuff going on. I love taking in a new show in and seeing a bunch of rides I haven't seen before. This was our first time, definitely be there next year.

I took a few pictures, I will try to get them posted soon.

    Hey knuckle,

Your truck was way too Kool. Stance is everything, but when you have the
whole package it makes it even better. I had talked myself out of buying
bellflowers for my '60 Impala, until I say your truck. Know you got me thinking
    again.

Wish I would have meet ya. You parked next to my beat up old Merc. Late afternoon I crashed behind Myers Pinstriping booth trying to get Kool.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

    Ha, Ha, Ha.........

I agree, you did look Kool'r.............

The reason for the big turn out this year was to see our Mercs together for
the first time. WOW!!! I was shocked to ses how many guys cared to witness
    this rare get together.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

  13. We never did park them together though. I didn't want your Merc making mine look worse than it already is.

According to Jerry at the awards ceremony, Mick...660 sleds...and it will be back in Salina in 2007...best one I've been to in a long time and I do get to quite a few...the place was absolutely packed...so many new cars this year too.

And those guys that went to Lincoln for the Americruise...that'll teach you to NOT listen to your peers!

And of course, for those of us NOT used to that kind of humidity it was almost unbearable...but chatting with so many well-knowns (including that guy that does the SK500 and the Stray Kat Krawl) made it bearable...ya didn't mind the humidity then...

Good to see you again Mick...see you at Joplin?

This years show took me back when I was first introduced to Kustoms. My p***ion
for Kustoms is stronger now then ever before.

It took me a while to learn that #'s are not important. What makes the show
fun is usually the guys that attend the event. 660 is a perfect size to be able
to talk to guys and still get a buzz looking at all of the Kool Kemps. I was wiped out
and turned in way to early Saturday night. I cruised by the hotel 12:30 am I could not
believe the crowd still having a good time.

Who won the "777 kustom" pick?

Thanks for getting me into trouble with Dan........

    See ya at the Drags.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

    R,

I had to tear the page out of the book to get top Money on Ebay. Sorry that I had to tell ya this, but I had to build a new addition to my house. Thanks for letting me invade your table Satuday night. I'm trying to get back on Dan's good side. Thanks for the entertainment.

Ken Anderson's Riv was too Kool and deserving of the award.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Thanks for the compliment, I can't take all the credit, I just put some finishing touches on it. After I parked close to you later in the day I was the bald guy hanging out at Meyer's & Eric's tents. I think my pop, JayD here, might have backed his '53 right in next to you.

Anyway, maybe we'll get a chance to meet at the drags...

    Hey Doug,

I cannot wait to get them. I'll size them down, a get them posted so Denise will be happy. This was the first show I was not able to take any pictures. Either I was at aahhh looking at all of the kool Kustoms or I'm just getting to old. I like to think it is the first statement.

The bubble top belongs to Gary Meyers from Wichita. Gary helped Eldon ***us build the Voodoo Spider and he is very talented. I Have some build up pics somewhere and when Doug sends me the pics Ill be sure to post them for you.

Its Kool that your in love with the KKOA, I for one would never go to another one of their shows. They had one in California nice show, but Jerry ***us distorts California hot rod and kustom history just to inflate his ego. We never called our rides in Califonia "Kemps". The rides he calls Kustoms ( like new concept cars) and lets into his shows is unbelieveable. The Voodoo Spider isn't a Kustom but a one off show car. The Voodoo Spider is a very nicely buid show ride. Keep going Mick, Jerry puts on a good event and I respect your opinion.

Well, Cruiser49, this isn't Mick (Stray Kat Kustoms), but let me try to answer your concerns...I was born and raised in Iowa, started HS in 1957, graduated in '61...we never called "kustoms" kemps either...never heard that word til I joined KKOA waaaaaaaaay back in the early 80's...probably even before you were born...BUT I certainly didn't hold that against Jerry...so I joined KKOA just to rub elbows with "famous" people, Californians included. I got to meet great kustomizers (from someplace other than California) like The Alexander brothers, Elden ***us, Darryl Starbird and many others...plus hang with guys that simply loved kustoms...and it was good...and it still is good...

So, Jerry "distorts" California kustoms, huh...please explain how??? And YOU KNOW he distorts California kustoms how??? Surely YOU didn't go to one of his shows? He brings a show to Solvang, Cali...and were you there to see how he distorts them? Did you know he supports West Coast Kustoms, and they support KKOA...are you part of WCS? Then YOU support him and his "distortions".

"To fill his own pockets"...ever tried to put on a rod run or hot rod show? Ever spent any registration money going to West Coast Kustoms shows...??? If you ever did put on an event, then you'd understand why he "fills his pockets."

"The rides he lets into his show"...??? You mean those tail dragging, whitewalled nosed and decked chopped '49-51 Mercs...??? Those sectioned shoebox Fords...??? Nosed and decked '49-'52 Chevies...??? Oh and let us not forget those really truly kustomized '53 and '54 Chevies... Would there be '58 Chevies at his events...??? If there wasn't I'd be surprised. I don't know what kind of "kustoms" you're referring to...so tell me, California kustoms are different than Midwest/east coast kustoms? Explain that one to me, please.

I cannot argue the fact that the Voodoo Spider is a one-off...but it was hand built...does that not make it a custom...??? Oh yeah, if you get a chance, look up the word custom in the dictionary and tell me the definition of it.

And please, for all of our benefit, explain what a "real kustom" is...

Does everyone in California have an "at***ude" like this guy's...???

Matter of fact, Cruiser, show me your kustom...I'd like to see how much different YOUR California kustom is from my ColoRODo kustom...IF you even have one!!!
