This past weekend Sam picked up a neat single axle trailer to make a dedicated race car hauler for the BFD. There are a few modifications to make (such as the rear rails need widening for the slicks), but here is the as-purchased trailer before the cutting torch and welding begins.

I dig the fenders. They look like a cl***ier version of the Ford spare tire cover.

Cool trailer....Is the BFD making it to the HAMB drags this year? I cannot remember if you guys said you were making the trek again. Also, what ever happened to the BET? Did anyone ever smooch?

That looks alot like a boat trailer to me. Maybe a name
    change is in order.

  5. Thanks for posting it Terry!

Yea, we were going to build a trailer from scratch, but my buddy Tim came across this one that a fellow FAST member had... and for the $400 asking price, we couldn't p*** it up!

The frame appears to definately boat based... but the axle is a six lug Chevy and is a sprung axle. The fenders are old spare tire covers and they used a floor jack turned upside down for the jack. (hence the ******* thing that's been driving all the cattle in the neighborhood crazy!)

Plans are for new tires, Tim already pulled the hubs apart for inspection and new bearings and grease... I cut the "wings" off the sides, I don't know why they welded the diamond plate on the sides like that... I'm going to do a new yoke and jack, paint the wheels white... get rid of the goofy front tire stops and extend the ramps in the front. I'm also going to build some expanded steel and angle iron rear ramps that will flip up in the back.

We're trying to keep it "traditional", you know.

I'll post pics when we upgrade the thing...
    Sam.

Unfortunately we're not going to make it this year... I'm still paying for last years trip.

But when we do show up at the HAMB Drags again, I want to take the RR out there. The team may also build a G***er under Terry's roof for our next trip out. The parts are already piling up for that one.

As for Smooching?? Nope, Gordon took a day longer than what I et him he could do it in... he blew me away with his three week wonder, but I ain't kissin' his *** for it. [IMG]

you could probably sell those fenders on ebay and make half your money back [IMG]

  8. That's what I thought at first glance... but that rib is a lot smaller than a '36 cover's rib... and then it has this band that bolts onto it on top of that... weird.

We're just stoked we got a cool old trailer...
