I like it, Man, I would like to know what was done to get it that low, more than just cut springs and lowering blocks I'm sure... I like the fins, but am not too wild about the headlight treatment, You are right, the grille is real nice, the scoops in the doors are kinda odd, wonder if they whistled at speed?
I gotta think that they fabbed up some dropped uprights for it, because I think 57 Corvettes were still kingpin?
That is******in’ Moriarity wondering how they got it that low sort of makes me wonder whether or not it was channeled – I don’t know. It is definitely super low.
Gotta agree that the portholes are a little out of place, but the rest of the car looks very balanced. the droopy headlights add to how low the front looks, and the rear taillight section gives "Buick Wildcat" vibes.
Some production cars are difficult to improve upon Tri5 chevies, small birds and early vetts fall into that category for me more times than not, they look worse, takes a superb artist to improve the look the grill may look better but that’s about it
It's a product of its era... And I've seen worse restylings on 'Vettes. The door scoops and portholes are the only parts I'd take real issue with.
I agree with Ryan the front is super. The rest just negates what made it neato. The Lowering was a feat.
Yea, I like it! I would like it more without the portholes and scoops in the coves. But, I would also drive it as is.
and they don't even need a 5 speed, the 4 speed is great! (although they might need a driver who understands what old cars are all about)
I had a lot of relatives living in sleepy little Lebanon Oregon in the 50's/60's. When I was growing up, my Grandmother had a 54 Chevy that she bought from Hoeck Chevrolet, she drove it into the late 60's, I wonder if some of the same guys that built that Corvette worked on her car. Seeing Hoeck Chevrolet listed as the builder really surprised me but I guess "small town America" probably did produce a lot of custom cars in that era. I looked but there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on the internet about that Corvette, the owner Bob Caldwell or the dealership.
Yeh, I saw that one, also some mention on Kustomrama. https://kustomrama.com/wiki/Bob_Caldwell's_1957_Chevrolet
Is it my imagination, or are those Porta-Walls on those tires? There is a shadow line that suggests that they are. Whatever they are, it would look better with some OT 24's and rubber band tires. And he buried the taillights inside those fin/hood things. In all seriousness, that thing*****s.
Custom Corvettes are cool! Especially hardtop '57's. I searched for a color pic but could not find one.
FWIW, my 2 cents... The grille treatment is rad, stance is ok. I'm a less is more guy. So the front license tag and the rest of the mods not so much.
Kool car! They were true to the time of what was going on then. Corvettes were a blank sheet that were easier to work on than a metal car and yes the. Show car. Crowd got carried away because with each mod you got points . I'd drive it
I like all of it except the door scoops. What purpose could they serve? At least the portholes would let the hot air out. Just needs 2 more of those.
Man, when Germ posted a bunch of old pictures the other day and this corvette being one of them, I thought that a color pic of the Caldwell car had been found, but I guess not (I thought the door scoops were similar)
