went last year with my Dad, definitely one for the list!!

Incredible racing and a great atmosphere, save your pennies though as everything there and within a 50 mile radius is ludicrously priced for the week surrounding the event. Totally worth it though.

St Marys trophy and the RAC TT Celebration (Cobras, Corvettes, E types, Cheetah etc) are particular stand outs!!

Great race! I thought the 57 would prevail. Couple of driver errors and oh well that's racing!

St Mary’s Trophy this year was for pre 1959. That ‘57 Fairlane is a bit cheaty. 427 FE!! Bit like sticking a V12 in a mk1 Jag.

Makes you proud to be an American. Those big bears stealing the honey while the little bees swarm around.

I grew up watching Steve Soper in British Touring Cars Championship. There is a famous bit of TV where John Cleland, Steve Soper and Tim Harvey are fighting for the lead and the in car footage, (which was being shown live), cuts to John Cleland giving Steve Soper the finger. Without a break in his commentary Murray Walker says “I’m going for first says John Cleland”!!

That was awesome to watch! I got hooked on Goodwood back in 2017 when Tom Christensen drove the Thunderbird for the first time, and check it out every year, Like Ryan, this is a bucket list item for me. I love watching those big American V8 cars mixing it up with those little guys.

  22. If your making travel plans don,t confuse the Goodwood Revival with the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Two different events.

  23. Somewhere at the back in both races is a big old posh Jag luxury model being driven by Rowan Atkinson ( Mr Bean ) who in daily life has written off two of his McLaren road cars :rolleyes:

I wondered if that was really Mr. Bean as the commentators were talking.

Oh yes, Atkinson has been classic racing for years. He campaigns a '64 Falcon Sprint usually.

It would be nice to see a hotrod at a track event.

Pardon me for commenting yet again regarding some Midwest stateside similarities, & yes great to see the Thunderbird still in contention with Tom Kristensen at the helm, were the 57 a supercharged Ford 300 series body it would hearken back to the Omaha Burdick family where Uncle Bud & Nephew Bob challenged the Nascar & Usac world with impressive wins in similar vehicles. Operating out of an independent repair shop Buds brother Roy race prepped both vehicles, & perhaps purely coincidence that both Goodwood Revival cars carry the same Omaha colors & the Thunderbird the same Burdick #73. Not sure how the similarities came about, perhaps Bill Shepard had some ties or memories from back in the day.

I was watching one of those Gran Tour episodes a while back, those English twats were showing racing at Goodwood with Galaxies and Studes up against minis and Cortinas. Head to head, 4 wheel drift, the big yank tanks would "walk" them in the straights. Awesome!
