We tried the blower out on Fatabone's flathead last night. The crankdrive fits perfectly. Then we held the blower up to see how it would look.... Clark
How about building a custom radiator with a hole in the middle to allow it to protrude out.. sit engine back slightly and have it just fit behind a 32 grill. you still **** for finding such parts..
Wow, that's cool. What do you have planned for the rad? I think you had mentioned putting the rad in the trunk?
I'm seeing a car in my mind, coupe, serious chop, radiator in the trunk, halibrands, salt vibe...... Mmmmmmm. Rich
Boones...a car will have to be built around this thing. I'm thinking trunk mounted radiator. Maybe a small car like a 26/27 roadster. Not sure what would be better.....run no grill and let it hang out there in all its glory or having it poke through a 32 shell. Clark
This is what Foose needed to fit inside the goofy grille/nose on his new roadster. Can you imagine this blower on that V-12?
that looks pretty cool i dont think id seen this type of blower with a front mount set-up what about that street driven belly tank idea? zach
Clark ... "...a car will have to be built around this thing " .. ? Slow down a bit ..., and Take what time needed to find out what engine that blower was dezigned to fit .. I guess it will be fun to make it work on a Flathead Ford engine , But please do some serious research before you cut into it.. Klaz
I wish you could see the tears all over my key board .Chop 34 mailbox slot windows.Hammer it till it hurts then hammer it some more .Polish the blower.Louver hood and trunk. full belly pan. some type of nerf bumpers flatten paint, full roll cage. Some nice wheels etc etc
Still missing a key mount though, yes? I'm just trying to visualize where it could be mounted. Couldn't be trusted to hang from the timing cover bolts alone. Does it set far enough forward to use the water pump bolts? It would be interesting to see what this missing piece looks like. I think somehow the key to making it look best is not forcing it into fitting typical Ford sheet metal. (from the cowl forward) The 26-27 roadster idea is great.
i was trying to figure out what that roadster picture was in the background! then it hit me............i painted that! zach
Pretty damn cool Clark. You could fab up some brackets to help support the weight of the blower out front. Drill 'em full of holes for that race car look! '27 T with no radiator shell at all would rule!
see i like the idea of having it kinda "hidden" so ony when you open up a hood or something its there...of course polished in all its glory. kinda like how when you pop the hood sides on Larrys 32. im thinking bonneville heavy chop belly pan too.
Hmmmm...look at the carb flanges...be real devious, and convert to hidden injection under the manifold, then put two 97's on the blower sticking out sideways and hooked up to a stock fuel pump... Then when people ask, you can sat "Huh? I just bought'em off Ebay and screwed'em on...seem to work fine..."
Clark have you been working out? You look hott! Maybe it is just muscle tone from playing with your blower. You'll have to put a suicide axle on whatever you put it in just so it doesn't poke out past the front tires.
Bruce.....you are sick...I love it....hold it now, that makes me sound sick! Clark....I'm sure that you will put this cool item to good use!!! Thanks for the tease!!! Skot
Put it in anything Ford... tall skinneys, all black... and with a '32 shell that maybe has a plexigl*** insert... a slat flat theme wins out over a drag theme... Sam.
Klaz...I know a lot of people don't beleive this is for a flathead but it has to be. Actually it's just about the only motor it could be for. Any other motor the water pump would be in the way. Not to mention the crank drive fits. Kevin ...yeh I'm still missing the plate that mounts it to the motor. It looks like it will be easy to fab. Might weld something to the timing cover and suport the front somehow. It's made to be tight against the timing cover. Also I'm gonna hunt down the place it came from and check to make sure it wasn't left behind. Bruce....did you spend a lot of time in the sun yeaterday???? Cool idea! Clark
The blower looks exactly like my SCOT flathead blower -- just front mounted. What you might consider doing (if you have a milling machine, appropriate skills, etc) -- is make a completely new timing cover and blower mounting plate as one integrated unit. This is quite a bit of work, but may give you the best results, a super-solid mount and could be polished to match the whole blower. Yes, a thick plate of 6061 or 7075 isn't cheap, but it would sure be a cool way to go. The last thing you need is to not have a really solid mounting surface that is 100% square to the front of the block and can handle the weight of the unit as well as the torque/loads that operate within it. Let us know what you do! Dale
Yeah--make a blower plate and a timing cover plate and heliarcem together... And do convert to early cam, and do something strange with the ignition like an HC mag driven off a little 2-1 ge****t off the blower shaft...
The next meeting of the I hate Clark the Lucky Bastage Society and Marching Band will be the second Tuesday of next week.
