History is everything and the nod to the original hot rodders is a great show of respect. Thanks for sharing, Rob.
Thanks Ryan, I to really enjoy seeing these old race cars, the color is great also. They bring back some great memories from my early trips to the salt with my folks. I also like seeing the push trucks, some had nice lettering & graphics on the doors & sideboards, just AMAZING PICTURES! THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED FOR LET'N US SEE THEM. cw.
I can't believe that it's been two years since these posts first hit the Net on TJJ. I just went back and read them again too. Absolutely fantastic!
Great pictures. (4) The Dawson Madley class 'C' modified coupe took first with a 160.13 mph time. And yes, this is the legendary Pierson Brother's coupe... Dawson bought the car from the brothers just prior to the '51 season. You got the name wrong, it was Dawson Hadley not Madley from Pomona. Loved those Arduns. As I recall Clark Cagle, the Mallard and Cagle '34 coupe guy, ran an Ardun at the OC drags in his Lakewood Muffler dragster around 1953 or so. Also Yates and Michelson had an Ardun dragster driven by Bob Alsenz. Early fifties at Santa Ana were great, with guys like Dick Kraft, Art Christman, Calvin Rice, Ollie Morris, Creigton Hunter, Bean Bandits, Frank Iaconno, Harold Dawson and many more.
The photos are timeless and part of hot rodding culture. Really the pioneers of most all hot rodding started on the Salt Flats as we all know. Great pics. Love the color.
Love the pictures especially the one of George Cromer. That's my dad. Haven't seen those photos in a long time.❤👍
I just acquired George Cromer's old racing stuff from James, his son. I will post pics and share. Thank you again James.
