I suspect the coil-overs on the back are a recent addition as well. Honestly, I am a lot less than in love with this car, but no way in hell would I want to see anyone mess with it. Frankly, I see a hell of a lot of stuff being built now that really IS rubbish, and most of it under the guise of building "traditional" hot rods.

  4. Chip,
Sorry I'm late to the party, but maybe I can help steer this thread back on track...

The scoop you're using is a '60's era street interpretation a Scott Injector. Although several FEDs used them, probably the most famous application is (unfortunately) on Mad Max's Ford Falcon "police interceptor". Here's a pix.

Cal Custom made one (40-44 IIRC?). I've been watching one on evilbay but its kinda rough, am halfway to a decent set of 40-40's so will probably go that way.

That's one way to irrigate a wound. Gin should ward off infection.

  7. Yeah, the Von-T went through many changes before it's current curator purchased it. It was almost unrecognizable when he got it. Many of the original parts are still in the possession of the Von Esser family, and are slowly finding their way back to the car. I know that the Scott injectors and original engine are sharing garage space with it right now.

  8. Heck, you have been in the wars, hope you recover quickly. Sounds like you have a good plan ahead for " Use to be Ugly " so I will sit back quietly and wait for pictures.

Absolutely Matt! I'm sure that's why it has healed as quickly as it has.

    HA!
Been waitin' for this one to show up!!! Goes to prove that it's perfectly okay to love stuff out of the different eras. Dave built this in the early eighties, and Len got it around '85 or so. If you go back and look a bit, I posted an article on a red '27 bucket that Dave built in the early seventies that I just love, and this car shares the same front wheels returned to Dave through a series of convoluted trades. This thing was cool as hell in an era when it was okay to be pink...

Dave has been a long time friend and mentor helping both ElPolacko and myself in the world of the hot rod business over the years, and Len is El's dad... And been like a dad to me, too.

I had a similar wound once (still have the scar) later that night I was out drinking and noticed my chin was wet. I was "leaking".:D

    Hey cmarcus!

Thank you for reading through, and welcome. Lots to take in on this thread, and kinda fun to read too. We have become pretty tight over on this one, as we all sort of remain the "Group W bench" of the juggernaut that is the H.A.M.B. With as quickly as these cars are gaining in popularity though, I don't see us as the outcasts too much longer.

If you are serious about putting together a traditional car, I can supply you with a frame that will be set up more correctly than most that are currently in the market these days, and help you source the rest of the stuff to get going. Send me a P.M. or give me a call.

    Hey 'Rebel,

Nah, I didn't get lucky enough for a V8/60 tube to drop in my lap, but I am considering switching over to a '37-'41 beam that I have and drilling it to match the brake backing plates. Paint the whole thing white and it might just fly. That would open the door though to the day that I DO find an affordable tube... They turn up from time to time; just never when I want one, ya know?

Damn Ruben Duran! That is awesome! Not a color I had thought of either! Metallic copper is pretty freakin' cool! Wish I wasn't a all star window lickin' sucker for orange over a white interior...

Are you looking at the copper on that photoshop? I know you are pretty much committed to hugger orange, but man, that looks pretty good!

Oh, I might as well share the portrait that Brian decided was the best of the evening's shoot. He has asked me to look for another location and do it again in the next week or two. img805.jpg

I've sat in my T Bucket, with that same expression, so many times. Contemplating life, or what to do next. Great shot of a Hot Rodder in thought.

That is a great pic. You might get funny looks from folks that don't get it, but those that do, understand exactly what its about.

  25. god we must be living in a parallel universe:eek:, i've sat in the exact same manner contemplating my next move:rolleyes:

  26. Well isn't that a darn excellent picture for your Lounge wall, bigger then big of course. The photo of the altered one is awesome too but I agree Chip, you stick with the Orange. I must ask though, surely the extra long tall shifter has grown on you to the stage of leaving it in place ? I can visualize the triple carb set up, three stainless air ram tubes on top with some new white exhaust paint on them and you could more or less say we have curered the ugly from the beast. Oh the white trim done like the above picture too and then it is done.

Chip - for the life of me, I can't seem to find your post on what brand cheaters you are running on the back (not like there are many posts to go through... ;)) Could you repost that (or anyone that has it...)

    Thank you!

Jeez, you know, I dont know if I'd change much of anything (other than paint and the front axle) at this point. With the AFB, the scoop, the valve covers, those headers, man, thats PERFECT. I'd say paint it, upholstery, and stick a fork in it, its done!
I know we said it about 100 pages ago, but those headers are PERFECT. They really set the tone for the whole deal. MAN that car looks good.

Man, I can hardly wait to see this thing in paint!!
