That's Fred Steele's T out of L.A. temporarily in the early sixties, then back to Mass with him later on. The car still exists in the same form. The more I look at this type of shorty bob-tail kinda cars, the more I appreciate them.

Yeah Chip I feel the same. Their is a lot I like about this bucket not the least of it's simplicity, chrome wheels, medium w.w.s and headlights.
Glad it wasn't subjected to the late '60s uglifieing. Yeah shit we just make up words here. My "writer" sister just kringed and she doesn't know why.

3Window Larry tattled on me to Ryan the other day for making words up! He better watch out on the playground!:D

  4. I look at that and think why does that look cool and mine not so, and the two things that stand out that throws mine off is the A shell and the chopped screen. and possibly the painted wheels.
    your thoughts please

Hey--Tim--your T is similar in look and wheelbase to Fred`s. Hadn`t put that together before. There`s no shaming, Gary--You have your cars driving. All I get to do is work on them for customers. Maybe with this start I can get one done for me....

Well for one thing you don't have the lights of L.A. in your background or a sixteen year old blonde snuggled up beside you. No really since you asked one word "RADICAL". Their just isn't anything really radical on your T as their is on the T on the album cover. Visually nothing jumps out at you. Although I don't really like A grills on T's if yours was just a couple of inches lower. "RADICAL. (I don't know what that works out to in M.M.) "If it just sat a couple of inches higher in back "RADICAL". If your windshield were a couple of inches higher (you got it) "RADICAL" Your roadster just might be too perfect. I look at your car and their just isn't anything wrong with it. The tires in front are just perfect, not too big or too small or too wide or too skinny just perfect. Same with the slicks in back just perfect. Probably about now your wishing you hadn't asked. White firewall, and white rims on a white car? Fuck, paint the rims red and put some red scallops and striping on the body. Maybe put a shiny plate on the top part of your firewall with a couple of gauges in it. "RADICAL" I guess we are talking about the roadster in your avatar. Anyway that is what I am talking about. That, your roadster just needs some finishing touches.
The second time I was given the "Terrific T" award at a GoodGuys event I asked the guy that picked my car how he picked one car over all the others on the fairgrounds. He said "easy I just drive my golf cart around and a car just jumps out at me"
Well you asked. Have I said "RADICAL" enough.
Okay I'm going for another glass of wine and a turkey dinner.

Oh I have just thought of a new word. "RADICALITY"

  7. probably should be RADICALICITY (n) state of being radical:D
or AWESOMNICITY (n) state of being awesome. :D:D hell we can make up words all day long, as long we spell 'em right. Can't stand this new text spelling:eek:

Just had a Marlbrough Kim Crawford with our Thanksgiving. It`s very hard to bend in half enough (so much food...) to sit at the Computer.......I know what I am thankful for--I hope you all think of that today..Chip...Does Miss Judy do Thanksgiving? We don`t in NZ, but after almost 30 years here, I really do get it. You guys are a part of that, as are all my loyal customers, and all the great people I have met in the Hot Rod journey I seem to still be on...

Hey Kiwi Paul, thanks. I think you're right as far as proportions go. I haven't posted a pic in awhile, and this one is REALLY old (almost certain I already posted it), but the car is in multiple pieces right now. I'm not sure whether to resist change or start all over or something in between lol. I'm kinda lost, but I finally got the Camaro sorted out last week, so I have no excuses to not work on the bucket!

That looks awesome Tim! I like the stance! Your rear tires are tucked in nicely.

Shop time for me today. Frame is mocked together, just needs the front tube put in. I will have to get some customer work done tomorrow. These weeks with Holidays in them mess my brain up. Seems like there are more Mondays in the week than usual...

Gary--You will just have to wait. I don`t want to post anything until I at least have a roller to show. I will have to get Tim up here to take and post the pics. I don`t know how--and besides, I`ve never been good about tooting my own horn.........It`s a steel bodied 23-5 T Roadster, and the body is up in the rafters in pieces. I promise I`ll post stuff when I get further along....

Thanks for posting this. I'm always looking for pictures and information on T's that look like dragsters (FED T Buckets?). I hope to build an earlier version that resembles something that could have been built in the late 50's. I've only seen a handful of T buckets like this. I'd love to know more about it if you have any information. It lools like they are sitting pretty low in the bucket. I wonder what rear suspension they are using.

  23. Here's some pic's of the car in it's later guise, Eddie painted it like this and added the windshield, but someone else had bought it when I found these pics, and the blown 426 was long gone and replaced with a 440. There is another thread on here with these cars as the subject (search Street Legal Dragsters). The engine, trans, and rear end were all mounted on an extended ladder bar setup (kind of a cradle) that pivoted together because there wasn't enough driveshaft length to allow for sufficient suspension movement. The entire cradle was supported with coil overs if I remember right. Also, when you see the individual rolls of the interior, each one of those pieces is an individual piece (think a small pillow) that was held in place with Velcro.

  24. So I put in a little shop time myself yesterday, but it didn't go well. As I slid under the T to pull the pan, I happened to look under the radiator and the lower brace on the radiator has peeled off the left side of the radiator. I assume this can be soldered back on (copper and brass radiator), but I'm a little confused on what it really does. I thought it was supposed to run from the outer edge of the mounting tab on one side, down the side of the radiator, across the bottom of the lower tank, and back up to the outer edge of the other mounting tab, forming a cradle that would support and add strength to the bottom of the radiator. What I actually found was it just seems to run across the bottom of the tank. Wish I knew the manufacture of the radiator, I'm guessing it's the one Total Performance sold with their kits. I guess it still adds a layer of protection to the bottom tank, but the only way I could see it getting hit there is if I tried to go down a curb sized drop off (not likely in a T). I'm going back down there today, so I'll snap a pic. or two.

Yeah snap some photos and post them. I'm sure Chip won't mind if the rest of us post pictures of anything we do on our buckets. He is always so busy he alone has trouble keeping this thread going. I don't think I am the only one that looks forward to the posts on his thread.

Absolutely guys! Please, let's see what you are up to! This is everybody's thread, and the amount of knowledge being shared here pertinent to T-Buckets I'm pretty sure hasn't been replicated anywhere else out there.

I don't post much but I have enjoyed following this thread. A lot of good education going on here. Thought I would throw a couple pictures if my T I've been building up. I'm going for a mid 60's drag strip look. The heads and supercharge are more modern than I'd like but I already had them. I'm still looking for a simple, functional, traditional, and not detracting roll bar design. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
