Love it!.....chrome windshield posts and frame would be nice...... Drive the wheels off of it!

Any build pic's? Or info like wheelbase, amount of frame kick up at rear, ect.

You know guys I like white wheels in the right cars too. But with those beautiful '20s/'30s art deco dashes it just doesn't go. The spoke one is perfect. Sorry.

Hey gang! I'm still here! did two days of swaps over the weekend and ended up sick as a dog from working in the rain. Almost back to normal, and trying to get some stuff done around here. I have the vinyl for the toneau cover warming in the sun as we speak, so I might have some trim stuff to talk about soon.

My old buddy Newt did my first toneau for me back in 1960,it was a sirprize an he put a zipper down the center but for about 2in. at back,so I could drive with one side closed. It snaped along the top of dash n back of cockpit with a few snaps just out side the doorlip, driver side unzipped flap droped behind seat if open,it was the only way for many years that I had to cover my cockpit,it was not tell just a year ago I added a folding top to my roadster.

Glad your back Chip these guys have to be getting tired of my shit.

  9. You did a fantastic job of your roof too Dana and I will be following along with some of your ideas when I do mine.
Gary, you tell the lovely wife of yours she just doesn't appreciated how lucky she is when she landed you in her fishing net as the fish ain't always that tasty from the next lake over. And as for steering wheels, I would love nothing better then a cut down Banjo Wheel but it would have to be the same diameter as that horrible white one otherwise I won't be able to get the acreage of my stomach behind it.
Jeremy, that is a unusual placement for the handbrake or is it there until you post it up to me for my T. ? I'm modifrying a HQ Holden one at the moment trying to get it within reach easily yet look like it fits. Problem is that it is already chrome plated and trying to work with it without damaging the chrome is difficult.

You know whip and 26T you grabbed onto my white steering wheel thing but I do love the dashes in both of your roadster and everybody reading this thread take notice.
Okay guys tell us what they both are besides both being bitchin. These are the things that makes just another roadster special.

QUOTE="whiplash1923T, post: 10793299, member: 115849"] View attachment 2809696 Well heck JW., what a darn fine offer to sign my dash. You are world famous in Carterton and anyway, we just could start a whole new " Must Have " for ones Rod. Actually my dash is plain at the moment so some pinstripes or such may help it.[/QUOTE]

  11. they are both simple yet functional, not too many distractions,(thats not to say yours is not cool Gary) Centralised in/on the dash as early cars all were.(hate seeing late model dashes put in early cars).

  12. Exactly, I wanted the instruments to be the only attraction on the clean steel dash panel. The ignition key and light/wiper switches are on the seat riser directly beneath the driver which is easy to reach between my legs. Would you believe I first purchased the full range of the Autometer guages but wasn't at all happy with the look so on sold and purchased the gauges I should of brought in the first place.

  14. That rear vision mirror looks a good one too Dana. I do like the vanished wood on your car as it appears to all match and isn't over the top. I also just noticed that you have three pedals to play with too, bloody awesome.

I met Blackie, back in '98 at the Portland Roadster Show, and would see him at several events that year. I entered my roadster in the 50th GNRS in '99. Knowing it would be tough to get in, and after waiting quite a while to find out, Lonnie Gilbertson called Blackie. It wasn't long, Blackie called back and said, he's in! Photo 1, Blackie, along with fellow AMBR Winners, Roy Brizio, and Lonnie Gilbertson. Photo 2, Blackie at Pleasanton, Gary's roadster was in close proximity. Paul, he calls me Hoss too, he must think we have the same accent. 2015-01-14 183928.jpg 2015-01-14 185421.jpg

A boner-- 97" Wheelbase. 5" kick in frame . I built the frame out of 2X4 rec. tubing for the torture of Michigan roads. Buggy springed and banjo rear .

Oh: A boner-- It's a 1917 early T body ( fiberglass) with the smaller firewall.

  18. Gary, my dash on my 26 is a T but reshaped for the 33 Plymouth PC gauges and panel. I have only added 3 small warning lights to the far left and a tacho will be on the column and there is a retro turn signal thingy on there as well now. and that's it.
Mark you cant have the hand brake lever(sorry) as it was hard to get(about a year) and i won it on Trade Me, it was 100 metres away and is now fitted. I would look a bit harder for a lever for your bucket, even a Morris Minor lever.......HQ....nah:rolleyes: JW

Well gang, I decided to stick with the glass body for my current T. I am still collecting parts for the steel body, and I hope to build another bucket or possibly rpu in the future. I won an early firewall on ebay last week, got ahold of a door hinge, and bought an A tailgate from a local HAMB'r.

If anyone has a couple spare T door latches or striker pins (not sure what the hook part of the latch is supposed to be called) laying around, let me know! I'd like to make a functional door using T hardware on the glass body and obviously need a T latch for the steel one eventually.

I finally decided on the depth of channel (1.5" as I'm 6'2") and am finally happy with my floor (my body was pretty tweaked from being awkwardly stored in someone's garage before I got ahold of it, so each time I made a floor template, something was always off- don't ask what rev this one is  ), so I started bonding the floor to the body using kitty hair to fill any imperfections / gaps and to create a nice fillet. Once cured on top, I'll flip to do the bottom, then finally glass it in top and bottom. It feels good to move forward rather than back!

Pictures Tim. Looking forward to pictures and next time your at Kiwi Paul's place take pictures of his stuff even if it's just a pile of parts. Even though your not using it on this build I'm glad that steel body is in good hands.

Not sure why it didn't attach last night, but here it is. The trans area looks goofy because I am hugging the curves as closely as possible to utilize what little space I have.

Hey Tim...When I worked for Magoo he showed me a neat trick. Get a carpet remnant, turn it so the backing side is up, and cover the trans. You can wax the back side of the carpet if you want, then lay all your `glass over the top and bond it to the floor. The thickness of the carpet keeps the floor just far enough away from the trans to do the job.......Then when you toun the body over you can finish the bottom side....

Hey Marty.....Most likely that`s the reason, yep, same accent........eh?....:D

Anyone know the new poster on the thread? I think his name is Quinn, or maybe Chip....or something...wonder if he owns a T of any description.....:D:eek::D

Okay guys I have a confession/disclosure to make. My roadster is fiberglass. At least partly. The trans hump is aftermarket fiberglass. Great hump trick Paul.
Did we/I piss off some people. Fred,Chip,George? I can see me pissing people off, sometimes I don't like myself. Most times I don't like myself.

Kiwi, that is a neat trick. I used aluminum window screen covered in duct tape and laid my 'glass over the top. Everything pulls right off the fiberglass after it cures leaving a smooth finish.

I love this thread. It has turned into a forum all unto itself.

  28. Hell Gary, you sound like me, arguing with myself all the time and not quietly either. The problem is that I always have to have the last word too so that makes it even more fustrating. I do believe Falcon George is on holiday somewheres away for the computer on cell coverage, well that is what the better part of me thinks. Chip is knee deep in work too and as for Fred, well he is AWOL so hope we haven't upset him too much.

Kiwi Paul - that is an awesome trick! Thanks for sharing, and just in the nick of time, too!
