Yeah whip that is a '60s build steel body Cad. powered bucket picked up by a friend of mine Marcus Edell a while back. He is on the HAMB and runs a business kinda like Gas Monkey Garage here in the Bay Area. I'm sure you can see it at the Grand National Roadster Show In Pomona soon. That's him in the background. Really into those early Cad. engines. I'm sure the picture was taken at a recent local show.

  2. And I personally find the Fad T look to be extremely cool, as long as it's devoid of all the brass trinkets like cowl lamps, etc. Clean lines are key for me - any additional "stuff" that takes away from the pared-down, business look of a hot rod is just clutter that is distracting and really doesn't belong.
I also LOVE the Dan Woods-style transverse coilover suspension - again, very clean and there is just something about those big Indy Firestones that turn my crank, although the wire wheels were never to my liking.

Was that T in the Bird ad the one with what looked like Magnum 500 or Buick rallye wheels? If so, I dreamed of that constantly as a kid too!

  4. Heck Gary, here I was thinking it was a V6 out some American Grocery Getta type vehicle as it only has three exhaust pipes each side. ;);). I liked it as soon as I saw the picture especially the rear tyres but there isn't anything on that car I would go out of my way to change from just that picture.

  5. Marcus just put his T up for sale.

003-14_zps2198b95b..jpg I dug up another pic of some tube frames. I kind of like them as they give the car the appearance of being lighter, and kind of a race feel.

  12. One of my all time favorite is Don Kendle's low slung T with the spit tunes for head lights and a Chrysler engine . I think it was called The Critter. Anyone have some pictures? I saw it at The Dells rod run in 1969.

    Ya bastard!

That was Lincoln drive in P.V., with a 45 mph limit and tons of photo radar around, so we were only goin' 55 or so! T-shirts?!

Look again Whip, I have my leather jacket on!!! Hell it was only about 73 out - barely survivable by human kind! Oh, look even closer at the upper windshield in front of my face and you'll see a freeway rock hit from a few weeks ago that damn near took my head off!

Hell gang, yesterday was CLASSIC!!! Started out about 9:30 with a run over to Wild Horse West for Burger with about a dozen friends and club members, then a run down to Glendale for benefit for a friend that was hit on his chopper a while ago, a stop at my buddy Ronnie's house for a progress check on his 'banger powered modified, then a run out to the Barrett Jackson fueled craziness that is the Scottsdale Pavillions this time of year with Hot Rod Ron and his 227 bullet hole coupe. We snapped pictures of each other's rides as we rolled through toney Paradise valley with open pipes bouncing off walls and shrubs and generally annoying the populace.

If any of you guys watch Car Crazy, keep an eye open for the 'bucket on that show. Ron and I made an ENTRANCE at the Pavillions last night in the two cars as we rolled through the crowd to get the spaces MIKE had saved for us by his Henry J and '64 Dodge. So much so that noticed a camera crew tracking our progress through the sea of people, and they were filming that show.
If any of you guys watch Car Crazy, see if you see the 'Bucket please!

All in all, I figure yesterday's mileage was somewhere about 150 or so.

Oh, just in case you don't know what Hot Rod Ron's coupe looks like... DSC02548.JPG

And yes, I have to admit that I have always loved this little car too! The proportions on this one were just dead on, even if some of the detailing was iffy. Do dig the Skylarks or Magnums though! Bird Ad.jpg

Nice, great fun running with two or more, even though I just like driving anyway, adds a lot with others along. We did about the same ,around 150 miles this passed weekend, and put about 80+ on this weekend also going to some meet ups with our hotrods. I realy like the blue coupe,an Ron's should be kickass too when it gets smooth out an painted.

  20. That is one super cool '32 5 Winda . Near finished too by the look of it or would that make it classified as a, excuse the bad language, rat rod ?

  21. That's one of them, Steve! There was another later ad with a Black, full fendered, full height windshield and top car that was definitely a fad T. Front wires, chrome windshield, grill shell, cowl and tail lantern lights, etc. It didn't have ANY brass on it though (at least that I can remember ....never was a big fan of brass on T-buckets). I'm guessing this was somewhere in the 76'-80' timeframe.

It is a pretty good looking little car. What was the wheelbase of a Bird kit?

    $695 in 1965 would be $5,223 today.

  23. Damn it! Nitrobrother's Model A is almost an exact carbon copy of my plan for my Model A (less the flathead, mine has a '57 Chevy 270 Hp 283 w/ a powerglide.) It was built (well last titled and registered then), and as far as I know, hasn't been on the road since. Got it on the road in high school, but within 6 months it was back at off because the stock frame was cracking, and I joined the Navy before I ever got it back together. Thought I was finally gonna go back bad get it and my '27 this summer, but in a truly unexpected turn of events, I got laid off Friday....didn't see that one coming. Everything's on hold now.

  24. Hey, it was out Saturday down to Tempe...makin' a beer run before band practice (a bass and amp almost fits in there). Was running north on the 101 about 6:30 last night and almost stopped at Indian Bend to see what was going on but I was so tired I just kept going. Shoulda, shoulda...

  25. I'm guessing it's a '30? (Can't quite see, but other looks like it has the one piece running boards and splash aprons).

  26. Blownfuel, it's a '31 and has a lot of "character".

Sorry to hear about your forced job change. Hope you can find something better soon.

  28. Thank's, Guys. The lay off sucks, but I'm not destitute (not yet, anyway! ;-)....). I've got my military retirement (not enough to live on, but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye), and I'm receiving G.I. Bill benefits right now, so although it will mean a pretty serious cutting back (anybody wanna buy a cheap hot rod project or three?), I think we'll be ok (still crunching the numbers), might even take some time off. The timing sucks because I just bought (financed) a new daily driver two weeks ago, but even that I'm in right if I decide I need to sell something.

IF memory serves me correct: The Bird wheelbase was either 83" or 88" ???
