You know Paul that's just a nice little simple T bucket. It IS finished. Anything more would junk it up like mine. I'm finished with mine now too. Until I find something else too Kool not to stick on.
Guy's anyplace in North America but here I'm sorry but it was 70F and clear here today and I took the roadster to lunch with my car club.

  4. Kiwi,

For me, or Gary? My answer is post #6000 (Wow, look at that....another milestone!), and Gary posted Bud's car back in post# 5324. I think it's the same car, but if so, Buddy had changed the wheels (to American 5 spokes, and I don't remember the headlights being that loe. I also think he had a white top on the car. Couldn't make Gary's scan large enough to read the text (it got blurry), so till not sure what color it was.

BF, don't lose sight of the fact this is Chip's deuglifying thread.......I suspect he is waiting for Chip to post something fun to watch, like more on his upholstery, maybe?;)

Kurt...I was hoping you could find your pics of the car. Such a coincidence that someone posting on this thread knows about the same car I am inspired by. The article in the Dec `64 Hot Rod is in Black and White, and the colour of the car isn`t mentioned. Wouldn`t surprise me if its a Medium Blue though...

I am also waiting for Chip to give us another Lesson on Stitchery....:D

Dick, I like all of us look forward to the updates of Chip's de-uglifing of his roadster but this thread has taken on a life of it's own and if I know Chip he is enjoying the friendships he has fostered by starting this thread as much an any of us. I don't think it is taking anything away from the original intent to go away on out tangents. I for one have never enjoyed another thread as much.

  9. Hmmm......I don't have a clue where my pics would be, that was pre-Navy (30 years ago), and I don't know where any of that stuff is these days. I've got one place I suspect they SHOULD be.........but wife numero 2 moved a LOT of stuff when she moved in (some rightly so, there was probably 25% of my El Camino in the house, 10-15% of the Chevy II, 5% of the dragster, and half the engine for the Lincoln!). It did take her 5 years to realize there was a brand new set of AFR 165 SBF heads in the bottom of the closet she took over......I'm not sure what made her madder, the fact she thought I had recently put them in there, or that I came clean and told her they had been in there since before she moved in and I had knowingly omitted that fact in SEVERAL conversations about the amount of car parts that were in the house when she moved in! Oh well, damned if you do, damned if you don't!:D I tried to prove to her I wasn't that bad by taking her to my buddies house because he has a complete 210" rear engine dragster in his living room, but it didn't work. She just said "He's not married either, is he?"I responded "Nope, and he doesn't ever want to get married either." Nothing like pouring gas on the fire!!! ;) Anyway, the Big 3 (biggest swap meet of the year here) starts Friday, so it could very well be next week before I have a chance to look......gotta load the dually and trailer tomorrow.

Dick, Sorry if I got a little to far off topic. I always keep the fact it's Chip's thread in mind, but he's stated several times we should keep the thread going when he's to busy, so I was just doing my part. I****umed (and we all know what that means) Kiwi was talking to Gary or me since he was an integral part of our sidebar. ;) If I can find the pics, the car in question is definitely applicable to the topic, being an actual early-to-mid 60's build that hasn't changed much at all in the last 50 years.

Getting back to our regularly scheduled programming, I do have an upholstery question to put forth. My T does have the*****on tufted upholstery in it, and I really want to put webbing in the seat base. Problem is, each and every one of those little*****ons is wired through a hole in the plywood seat base, and I'm fresh out of ideas on how to do it. I don't think the tufted upholstery will hold it's shape (depth) without the ties going down through the wood, so the only idea I've come up with is to cut a section out of the wood base under each seating position that doesn't interfere with any of the*****ons (I'm thinking around 12" wide by 10"deep), and supporting that whole piece of wood with the webbing criss crossing beneath it. Not sure if this would make enough of a difference, depends on how much stretch the webbing has? Anybody got any other ideas (and no, I'm not going to get rid of the tufted upholstery, it's original to the car and era appropriate to the car.)? ;)

    .
Now, I feel that I need to explain my post, BF asked who Kiwi Paul was waiting for, him or Gary and I was just trying to clarify who I felt he was asking about.

I enjoy this thread more than any other thread on here just like a lot of others do, I did list this as my favorite thread on the HAMB.

Sorry if my intentions were not clear, not my intention to do anything other than clarify Kiwi Paul's question, at least my understanding of it.

Sorry***** for misunderstanding your post. But the upside is more chatter and finding out how much some of us really like Chip's thread.

I sometimes don't say enough to make myself completely clear, so that is my fault. I enjoy all of the side chatting as much as anyone, just like we were all sitting around Chip's shop enjoying a cold one and BSing on a Saturday evening. I am guilty of promoting some of the detours myself.

Thanks guys! I'm still here. I've dealt with a couple of rough days the last few, so I'm just moving slow. I'm trying hard to work and go forward, but it's taking everything I can do to do that, and nothing is happening with MY car.

Please, by all means post up what you guys are up to, and what you are doing with your cars as well while I'm dealing with the messes my health is making. I have always said that this is YOUR thread as much as it is mine, and I am dead serious about that. This thread is not just MY input on this subject, but the collective input of a batch of guys that REALLY love these cars, and wish to see them be something other than a freak show foot note in this hobby of ours. keep going, and I'll be back as quickly as I can.

Blownfuel, You can pull the webbing deal off by using a semi flexible product like light chipboard to hold the*****ons for your*****on tuft. The other way I have seen is to use very large*****ons (like 3" diameter) on the underside of the foam to hold the tuft*****ons on the top side. Where there is a will, there is a way, but doing this will be a great reward. Trust me on that one.

Hell, I finally got to DRIVE my car yesterday, for the first time since Saturday!

See, in a fit of***** that could only happen to me, I was called (on a second notice, I might add) for jury duty yesterday. But there was an issue.... When I filled out the on-line juror's qualification form and hit send, It came back with the note "Thank you for your offer of service, but your positive answer to question 12, "Have you ever been declared legally insane or incompetent" has dis qualified you from jury duty".... Wait a second, I didn't answer YES to that! So I though I better show up. hopped in the "T", pulled on my favorite dust mask, and drove the two miles down town. parked the car, popped the wheel off and caught the shuttle to the court.

Going through security was a treat, with the wheel, plus the rivets on my jeans, I was relegated to "possible terrorist" level, and parked on the "Group W" bench until they figured out what to do with this wheezing, possible weapons carrying, riveted, crazy. after about 15 minutes, they decided to arrange a hasty claim check for my steering wheel, and sent me in to my destiny. The cute young gal at check in punched my number into the computer, and said, "you have been excused, permanently". I said, "that's what I'm here to discuss", then broke out into a fit of coughing... after about twenty minutes of consternation, they decided I wasn't ready for the guys with*****erfly nets, but was definitely needing to go home and lay down.

But I got to drive my car a bit if nothing else...

Not a lot of people arrive for jury duty from which they've been permanently excused, much less carrying a steering wheel. If I was normal I'd probably look at Chip a little funny, too...

jeez Chip, you're lucky, we have to be at deaths door to get out of jury service here, and even then you'd need a note from the devil:eek: before they believe you:D

  22. You know, Chip, if you were not feeling so bad you could have REALLY made this fun by buying a cheap set of handcuff's off of ebay and walking in with the wheel handcuffed to your wrist! They would have REALLY enjoyed that!:D

And to think Chip I picked you as one of the few I will let drive my roadster. That shows my judge of character. You know Chip I installed a quick disconnect on my steering wheel too when I put in the Ross box. I didn't give it much thought at first then thought***** it would be simple to steal the wheel. Not that it is worth so much but it would strand me. I decided to drill a small hole in the pin that holds it on and pushed in a small press pin. At least now someone will have to have some vice grips with them to get it out. And I won't have to go to court with a steering wheel in my hands to put through the Xray. The dambdest things happen to you Chip. I need to hang with you more. Just for laughs.

Yup, second time in the last six months.... I'm about on normal schedule...

My younger brother and I have suffered what we have referred to as "Quinn syndrome" for our entire lives. That is the fact that if anything that could be dreamed of, and is negative, could happen to anybody, anywhere, at any time, It will happen to either of us... I happen to be just a bit more argumentative than him, which generally digs my grave a bit deeper.

But ya, if you hear on the news of a guy in Arizona having a random chunk of meteorite fall from the sky and snuff him out, don't even bother to log in to the H.A.M.B. the next day, as it will have been me!

Ya, the wheel got them. I went to the security station first before waiting in line to discuss what to do before I got to the metal detector, and that bit of common courtesy seemed to be what tipped them off! I swear they stared at it in wonder for a minute before they could register that made my car go left and right. Suddenly, I was a new case study...

As for the crazy thing, I was sooooooo tempted to just leave well enough alone and just not report and stay in bed. but deep down inside, with what I just wrote to VolvoBrynk, I knew that this deal would come back to bite me in the**** at some point if I didn't clear my name of the "mentally unstable or incapacitated" moniker. I could see myself being handed control of my parents affairs at some point and having that come back up.... They probably would release the guys with the*****erfly nets at that point.

The dambdest things happen to you Chip. I need to hang with you more. Just for laughs.
    Gary[/QUOTE]

You are welcome to come experience the crazy anytime you like! Maybe you could help corroborate a bit, too! Can't always just be me...

Funny part is, they were left in my possession by a very shy, studious, librarian-like, former girlfriend as you could ever imagine about 15 years ago...
