I remember the project T too. Those plans were printed in the magazine during the project. 1973 I think, but I can't remember which issues had the plans and I don't have my collection any more.

That was a nice T. As you said, currently for sale on Trade Me for $28.000, which is probably a pretty good price for a rod with history.

That's funny, I distinctly remember looking DOWN at you at Speedworld! ;)
Someday I WILL start on a bucket.
And I'll try like heck to make sure the back of the body doesn't touch any lower than my shoulder blades.

I just did a carjam for the registration plate of the black bucket in this shot…

It came up with "This Plate/VIN has not been****igned to any vehicle at the moment. Free and/or stolen check is hence not available…". So I guess that's one down. It was probably parted out at some stage and the body is perhaps on some other bucket somewhere.

Speaking of bodies, was the project T one from Arnie Parker? I know it wasn't a Glass Repros one.

It must be an optical delusion, that windshield can't be leaned as far forward as it looks like in this picture, can it?

Dick, that's no illusion, it does have that angle.
Jeff, the original body came from Greenlane Speed Shop and not sure who made it but it has no matching lines with a Model T (maybe the doors) and Arnie got the mould later. JW

  16. It was*****. I think that's part of the appeal, at least to me as a teenager back then.
I was in serious like with this car.
Then it got changed about, I think blower was swapped out for injection stacks, and other changes, that I remember my young self was pissed off about, haha.

No worries... after a wee bit of searching I found some discussion about it on page 175 of this thread. Seems the Arnie Parker mould was originally Greenlane Speed Shop and now Koop de Glass. Quite different in shape to the Glass Repros one.

    Glen.

EDIT: man, I really have to learn to type faster.

  18. Looking good k1w1, rained here today, so mine stayed in the shed, and I've been cyber rodding all arvo.

  19. One more while teas cooking.
1972, and Barry Greers 1917 T bucket is featured.
Merc flathead with Ardun conversion. This bucket was started in 1966, originally planned with a 292 Ford engine, that gave way for a 283 Chev, but Barry found the Ardun, so the Chev got biffed along with the banjo.
Front wheels are Honda rims with spokes added, one of NZs first buckets with wires. Rear wheels are Berry and Chung, and I'd say rocker covers are too. Must not have been many of these made? IMG_20150303_162922.jpg IMG_20150303_162957.jpg IMG_20150303_163015.jpg IMG_20150303_163104.jpg

One thing that I have noticed with early NZ Hot Rod and mostly T buckets is the use of 13-14 inch front wheels on 39-48 front brakes. This needed a spacer/ adapter and/or a large wheel offset of the said wheel to fit the drum. Back in the 70s I thought this looked cool but the scrub point would be 2-3 inches inboard of the inner sidewall......hello bump steer and death wobble. JW

Is it just me or are Kiwi T buckets like an alternate universe where none of the rules apply.
God I really love the internet. It brings the world together.

I was thinking that, too Gary. But that Black Sabbath one posted earlier is pretty awesome I think. It's neat to see how others are building buckets. The one where the bucket seemed to be in a ditch got a laugh out of me haha. Too much fun had on that day.

You are correct about the internet Gary ( all this time you didn't know I was in NZ !!) and as for our buckets, well a lot are just what one can find to use. there are some very cool ones too, Marks for example but many just lose that grace of line when it really counts. JW

Black Sabbath is a Dodge if that matters and it is now restored as first built. Back in the day I believe it was our top Hot Rod. JW

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the original version, Vandal was posted on this thread a while ago.
It was cloned a few years back. I never saw it as a young fella, and was nuts over Black Sabbath version.
Probably due to discovering heavy metal music at age ten.:D

  26. December 1967, only thing to be found in this issue of NZHRM is an ad for glass bucket bodies. I guess the kiwi TBucket thing was just kickin off. IMG_20150303_190105.jpg IMG_20150303_190253.jpg

Jeff, I always liked that ad for T Bucket bodies (1967) as the car looked so crisp, clean, light and sporty. JW
