So, allow me to let you guys in on what an idiot I can be! So I got some windshield glass cut today. I walked over to the glass shop. picked up my panes and trundled them the three blocks home. Popped the lower frame out and to my surprise, (or not) the channel in the right upper was gone... Well that sucks! Good thing that every time I buy a pair of windshield posts, they seem to have a chunk of frame upright attached. So, I grab my frame and lay it out on my table with the bad upright to my right. But, thing is, it doesn't want to clamp down to the table very flat. Flip it over and find a bad weld seem and a bit of rust holding off the table's surface. A minute or two of very careful grinding and it's clamped flat and happy. I take some extra time to lay out the 45 degree angle extra well, and grab the die grinder with an extra thin cut off wheel. DOES ANYBODY SEE THE PROBLEM HERE YET? As the last bit of the cut off wheel releases the "damaged" upright, I realize at that exact moment that I have just cut off the good upright, as I failed to flip it back over again... A bit of welding and the patient is doing fine and resting comfortably, but damn the doctor feels dumb!

I hadn't noticed the lady in the blue until I looked at the picture. Noticed I am parked in a bus zone.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that does dumb things. Although I might be the champ of dumb things. Seems like lately I have to do everything twice.

Ha, ha. Recently, I have been building new stairs for my deck. If you've ever done it, laying out the runners can be a little tricky. Took me 4 pieces of 2x12 and a couple days to make two runners that matched...;)

Title and tags day!!! Damn, that was some work. They made me jump through a bunch of hoops, but I'm legal eagle and good to go. Had two tires go south on the rented trailer, and had to stop every five miles this morning to add air and press on because I couldn't miss my appointment at a the DMV conveniently 35 miles from my house. It was the only appointment I could get this week for an inspection level that I told yesterday's guy it didn't need! Oh well.

Oh, and this is what my headers look like after sandblast and a coat of VHT white and cure.

You know it's just amazing what a few changes will do to a car. You've just done a couple of things and it just looks so much better. You have already taken a lot of ugly out of it. Now you have to work on your lady and talk her into letting you take about a foot or more out of that shifter. Tell her it will make your sick friend in California feel better. And that's not a lie. Well not a big lie anyway.

Didn't even think of it! It came home on one that was shorter, though. True to form, nothing with me can go simply. After being turned away from one DMV location yesterday, a quick phone call found an open appointment in Scottsdale this morning at 8AM. Lucky enough I left early and discovered both rear tire flat on the trailer. Rolled it around back and pumped them up. Went five miles, pumped them up, went five miles, pumped them up, went five miles and pumped... So, when I had to go find a bond salesperson in a section of town I don't know, I stumbled on a U-Haul corporate store and pulled in. Went up to the guy at the counter who was busy perusing a Compact Car magazine, and told him I had two tires dead on a U-Haul trailer. His reaction was a sigh, an eye roll and "So call your roadside help number...", and his glanced dropped back to his magazine. After being informed that it would take two hours, I completely lost my mind! A manager came out and we eventually switched out the whole freakin' trailer!!! Arrrgghhhhh!

I'll give the sick friend thing a try on the shifter and see how far we can get!:D She can't differentiate between silly long like ours and med long like Grabowski's car though. Maybe the first time she tries to pull it into gear and can't reach it she will change her mind as to how cool it really is.

I hope it doesn't effect your recovery, but I decided against the chop for now. Since this thing is going to be daily through about Christmas time, I think I am going to default to comfort and keeping some of the cold out of my face and body.

Thank you for the compliments. This by no means is the end of the story with this car, as I will keep improving things as I go along. Hopefully in the spring I'll blow it apart and shoot some for real shiny paint on it. We'll see on that. I do know though that it almost got sold today when I was searching for air for my trailer tires. I pulled into a Nissan service lane right up the street from DMV in search of tire filler, and one of the mechanics came running out from his bay and looked it over for a few minutes while the lot kid was filling the tires and said "Is it for sale?" I said no, I have to drive it a bit.. He said "How about 10,000?"...

Dude, You're more than welcome if it gets too cold up there! Come down and hang out for a bit!

I hear ya on the two carbs deal, and that is definitely a possibility. I am working on an alternate plan that would include a 4-71 with a single carb, though. That is something that I have always wanted, and I left the long pump in place as I worked out the radiator placement in the back of my head insuring room for that little addition if it becomes reality. Switch to short pump, hang all the drive stuff and it should all fit.

Oh yea! A 4-71 would be PERFECT! Do you have a 2" drive? Or gonna use cut down 3" stuff? or V belts??
