  2. So what are you doing different on this one as compared to the white one ?
I know I'd change a couple things on mine if I had to do it over...lol

  3. Why is the adjuster on the top bar, usually it's on the bottom bar ?

  4. My bet is its photographed upside down. JW

Mine moved under it's own power today for the first time in 9 years. Stopping?....That will have to wait until the daughter has a few minutes to help her dad bleed brakes.

Looking really good nobux. My kids have also been familiar with the brake bleeding procedure, from the time they were heavy enough to push the pedal.

    Nice nobux.
Mine moved under it's own power in about the same length of time. I built it in just about the whole decade of the '80s. I'm sure Fred will finish his a lot sooner than us.
Fred you could do a lot worse than building something like the nobux ride. Not much I would change on it.

I'm changing a few things this go 'round. Engine may be a 383 SBC or a BBC. The owner of the BBC is still dragging his decision to sell or not. Rear end is going to be a 9", after a LOT of question and indecision, I'm pretty set on that. The body is going to be a stretch unit from CCR. It may get a door and their interior. The new chassis is stronger than the last one, with a shorter wheel base. Drilled Front axle and wish bones, this time. I'm building this one to do what my old one did and that is be driven hard and daily.

But I already have a 10 year old daughter, and she is more fun to spend time with than my MityVac. Plus, I would have to try to find my MityVac.

When I had my shop, my wife was helping my nephew with his 'T' bucket. He had an accessory tube axle, a spring, and brackets & shackles. There was doubt (by him) on how to measure for spring spread with weight on it, so she had him place engine and tranny in frame, then set a 6" X 6" 'I' beam under the spring, width-wise, and let the weight of the car spread it out. Shackles were set at 10 degrees below horizontal, and brackets aligned and tacked.
When I got back the problem was solved...I LOVE a young beauty with a brain!

Fred, what are you using for bushings to go thru the wishbones for the shackle hangers?

  17. I was discussing these 'bones and spring hangers with a friend and a question came up: since the the spring hangers screw into the threaded hole in the wishbone; how do they end up both tight and correctly "clocked" at the same time. I saw that they also make a set-up with a thru bolt on the spring hanger; wonder if they start the same yoke casting.

    Hey gang!

I checked in for a bit last night, and read a few pages back to see what everybody was up too. Good stuff all around! Been atta a dead run since about Thanksgiving, so I haven't really had time to look up and see what's going on.

The 'Bucket's upper windshield took a pretty heavy rock hit early last year, and I have been wanting to chop it a bit, too. So I took a day last week and handled the first part of the chop process. I cut an 1 1/2" out of the upper posts, and a like amount out of the frame. 'Course, since the frame was kinda cheesy '70s repro stuff, I chased cracks all over the place, then had everything sandblasted. Now stuff is looking decidedly cleaner than the old, silver paint over rust, tweaked posts and crappy chrome frame... The lower will find itself chopped and re-glassed soon. DSC06654.JPG

I haven't had time to do anything but drive the "T" the last year, and fix what breaks. That will change soon, and you guys will start to see a bit more of me in the near future... Promise!

Welcome, Chip. You new guys always add something to this thread. :D:eek:

So it`s been a while. You have stuff going. Actually, if your programme is anything like mine, the shop job list gets longer, even if you run faster.......Beats the alternative, I get that....:)

How? Trial and error or maybe living the good life.:D The spring hangers are set at 5* and are threaded to the wishbone. I used a couple washers to get very close to the right spot. If you expand the pic, you can see that. BUT....... with a little time and patience, I will "clock" them without the washers or I'll keep the washers.

Again, this was and still is, a fitment exercise. When it's DONE....... it'll be DONE.
