Hmm...... a couple good ideas there, Rebel. The hoop did look nice, when I put it on. I'll ponder what I'll do, taking into consideration the steering factor. My old T Bucket had a S0-Cal "sling shot" that was 6" and I liked it. So, I'll see what I come up with.

The hoop has a zinc coating, so I'll clear coat it just in case.

  2. Instead of coming straight out from the frame with the brake hose; if you aim the bracket up hill, it changes the arch and motion of the brake hose thru turns. Could give you more room around the steering arm and drag link. Only have a picture of the wrong side; but it should give you an idea.

That would change the arch, but the issue is the section of the flex-line that comes off the caliper. It's like the one in your pics. That hard section keeps the line straight, then it begins to curve. The part of the hoop that rubs is right at the beginning of that curve. Changing how the line comes off the frame, really won't help. It appears that the only way to make the hoop work, would be to add a section of rubber hose at that curve, right after the straight section.

When the paint dries on the hoop, I'll install it and get a pic, so you guys will have a better idea of what I'm referring to.

Okay, here's a pic of the opposite side. See the bolt coming off the spindle? On the steering side, that's where the hoop would be. Notice the proximity to the hard section of the brake line? It rubs the hoop about 1/2" after the hard section. But only when the wheel/tire is straight. It's clear during the turn motion.

That's okay, Rebel. I've actually made a choice on seating.

Okay....... the hoop is a wash. I installed it and noticed another issue. The through bolt, that will support the rod end and drag link, will get caught in the flex-line. Even with the rod end mounted on top. The head of the bolt would catch. A longer flex-line MIGHT work for that, but the looks of the hoop aren't worth getting new lines. So, the hoop is a definite NO GO. Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess in some cases, things are best left alone.

Now, on to something else.......after some sleep.

I think so too. They're very basic and simple looking, which is what I was after. I'll have to come up with a way to hide the logo on the upper front of the seat, looks kinda Street Roddish, but it's not that big a deal in the long run.

Did a quick image search for "Black Dahlia Logo" and most were for a band with Murder in the name.
Maybe find an image of the flower and have a local shop do a couple custom embroidered round patches. This sort of thing is actually kind of reasonable these days with computer driven sewing machines. This place requires a 12 piece minimum, but you could sew a couple on jackets to match, maybe an overnight bag too.

That looks cool, but while the name I've picked won't change, I probably won't have a logo. I may not even have it lettered on the car. I chose that name because I've always liked it. It just sounds..... exotic. Yea, I know it's associated with one of the most infamous unsolved mysteries in the history of Los Angeles, but my car is in NO WAY to be associated with that. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The red painted holes in the axle are not meant to represent blood. Says the guy, who as a kid, kept a large collection of horror comics in a wooden coffin.

On a milder note....... as I get increasingly closer to getting the body, I've used this lag time to source out interior parts. I've already picked out the seats. Today I finalized the steering wheel. It's 15" in diameter wheel from Limeworks and CCR uses it in their T Buckets. My last steering wheel was 13" and gave me room to get in the car. The steering column (from Speedway) I've chosen has a removable hub, so this 15" diameter wheel will be removable for easy entrance. Now, it's almost 4 times as much as the Grant steering wheel, which I was originally going with, but I just really dig this style of wheel. So, here's the pic.

    steering_wheel.jpg

I think it'll be a perfect match for the seats I've chosen. Here's some pics of it mounted.

    CCR Kit Body Detail.jpg

I think, if you put all the pics together, you'll see my vision of the interior. This is NOT going to be your average T Bucket.

  16. Thanks Fred, its been exactly a year since I started pulling it apart and trying to cut my thumb and 1st finger off didn't help progress. Next is to tidy some of the previous body stuff.
That steering wheel is the ''Cats Meow'', Fred, shaping up to be a great build. Not that it wasn't before!! JW

I love the upgrades you are doing during the build, it is going to be so worth the extra $$ spent when you are done!

Sweet wheel, Fred! I knew you wouldn't choose a Billet monster or a 2 level spoked finger cutter!
As for the patch, I figured you weren't the "letterman's jacket with logo" kind of guy, but threw it out there for inspiration, if nothing else.
That's why I mentioned a Sharpie at the end! :D

Here's an iron-on 1.5X1.5" which could cover the offender on the cheap...

Hmm....... Late last night, I was looking at the pics and measurements for the body and remembered and noticed something. See, the rear portion of the body after the door, is wide at the top and narrows as it goes toward the floor. Yea, I can't believe I forgot that.o_O So while the seats I freakin' LOVE, will fit at the top portion, things may get tight towards where they will mount. Possibly too tight. As in, won't fit.

Not to worry though. I'll just go with the bench seat from the same manufacturer, which is my second choice. All this will get sorted out, when the body shows up. Hell, I may take a couple vacation days and just spend the time measuring........ and sitting in it making LOUD engine noises!:D

Fred, Fiberglass seats would fit well with room to spare. Just saying. Again and again and again. ;););););)

Hi FRED. I know you already ordered your buckets. But check out Speedway Motors. They just got 2 new ones in. Very nice looking and very nice price. They almost look like yours without that design. Check them out. Bob...........................

Well Fred I'm going to buy the next ones I see for sale for my patio. As you can see when I get something in my head I can't let it go. Maybe put them in my Falcon.

I haven't ordered them yet. My choice may change, when the body arrives. Depends on the width of the body where I want to mount them. If it looks like they'll be too wide, I go with the bench by the same company or go with bomber seats, which are not as wide.
