Me too! This a bit more modern Holley than I'd like to put on the car, it's the type that has the crossover tube from bowl to bowl. I think it'll be a short time piece that'll let me go through the Edelbrock even more thoroughly and really figure out what the deal is. Besides, I much prefer the look of an AFB carb on a small block Chevy. It'll work out.

I got a laugh Wednesday when I walked into Loper's here in town. One of the younger guys that helps me out there was talking with me and I was explaining my Edelbrock woes to him, and we were picking the brains of all the guys in the shop. Answer by answer I was checking off that I indeed had been there and done that. Brian turned back to me and said, "That sucks, and you are one of our few non-dork customers when it comes to making things work..." I'll take that as an endorsement!

Cool buckets....anyone have any info on the top right one? I like the proportion.

  5. Looks like Mike Mason's cut down '27 from St. Paul, think there was a article in R&C at one time. It was a pretty small car.

The girl that has cut my hair for the last twenty years is Vietnamese. I struggle sometimes to understand her. She blames it on my "Wally Maht hewwing aids".
After twenty years, her accent is no better than it was when I met her. But I love her, and I'd do most anything for her.

Mr. Needlouvers, you are probably the only cat on here that can slip a few life experiences into a HAMB worthy build and get away with it! I love it! There is lots of tech info with a spice of entertainment. I read this post everyday! Thank you! If I ever manage to get away from my perpetual renovation on my visits to the lil' shack in Cave Creek, I'd like to shake your hand and meet the Mrs. I have you pictured as the dude with a permanent grin!
Now back to the T Roadster!!!!! Cheers!

Damned cool little car, and kinda blurred the line between Modified and T-Bucket. It was narrowed up a bit, and I featured a Buick V6 before that stuff got silly in the late seventies and early eighties. It was featured in Rod Action also. If time permits, I'll dig up the article.

Agreed. I spent a good share of my life in the Twin Cities and this was a very distinctive car that most area "car guys" knew in the 1960's - 70's. The last time I saw it was at the Pantowners' car show/swap in St.Cloud, MN about 20+ years ago. It was for sale in the swap meet ... complete but in pretty shabby condition. I hope someone has brought it back to life.

Thank you sir! I can't always work on my personal stuff, so rather than let this thread simply die, I'd rather it be a place where we can laugh and have a good time every now and then, and just talk. Like has been said, shop night at my place.

Anytime your down, just give me a call. If I'm not up to my ass in octopuses at the moment your more than welcome down. Just be prepared for the least impressive shop you have ever walked into! My phone number is at the bottom of every post on here.

That bronze colored bucket on the right is Mark Niver's car that I raved about a couple of pages back. He is pictured in the drivers seat, and the guy at the front is my buddy Dave Hill, the owner of the red '27 bucket I posted a few pages back. The location this was shot at, if I had a really good arm I could hit with a baseball from my roof down here in downtown Phoenix, under the smog berry trees...

Yup! It is, but if you think about it, without the blower it would be too big again for a typical small block engine. Same deal I'm coming up with on all the scoops I have been playing with.

You know I kinda like this look on a '60s/'70s Bucket. Simple not over powering and it raises the look of the engine.

yes, but we ALL know the solution to THAT problem!:)

I'd love the see a really good clear big scan of the article on the bronze car. The lead photo was in Hot Rod Deluxe about a year ago, I have been looking for more on it ever since I saw it.

Ya, it's looking like the 4/71 deal isn't going to happen, at least not right now. I'll keep on him, and maybe in the next month or two we can figure it out.

I have been running 24/7 the last couple of weeks on customer stuff, so if I have a break I'll scan Mark's car and get it posted. One seriously impressive car, even though it's not truly H.A.M.B. era material. It won Best Engineered at either the '73 or '74 L.A. Roadster Show. My buddy Ron Olmstead, who was a member then told me about how everybody on the grounds that day knew that he had won early in the day, but kept the secret until awards time. Not particularly easy, 'cause us Phoenix boys generally leave about 3 hours earlier than the L.A. folk because of our drive. They had to repeatedly pull him out of the car, and even take his keys away to get him to stay!

I had a few minutes between the craziness to take you guys on a little field trip. I had to run over to John Evans wonderful shop stuffed full of machinery. The reason behind the trip was to have a new Edelbrock manifold I picked up yesterday for "Endlessearth's" '64 C10 cut for a manifold fill pipe. See, I'm building him a humpy little 355 Chev with a bit of compression and cam, then also swapping over to a TKO500 Tremec like I have in the Plymouth, all before Good Guys in two weeks.... The idea on this engine is to make it look fairly period stock, so a fill pipe is a must. CUE SIR EVANS! I'll just load a bunch of pictures of the experience so you can see what happened. By the way, if you have a small machine job that you just can't get someone locally to do, give John a call at 602 320 9575! He'll do it with style...

In this little montage (cue 80's montage music) you'll see such sights as my yard with the C10 and T-Bucket communing, the t-bucket full of stuff going, John's unfortunate Corvair addiction, the problem at hand, John's initial reaction to the problem at hand, John's clever fixturing, the first poke at it, and an action shot where John said "you can pull the damn handle, I gotta go water the yard!", and the finished product.

What you won't see or hear about is where John allowed me to use his small lathe to fab a quick spacer for Judy's new Honda C90 scooter project. As soon as John had uttered "you break it you own it", I flipped the on switch with the damned chuck key in it's square... Damn dumb assed rookie mistake! But we won't discuss that here....:D

I posted a request for information on a gas caps thread here on the H.A.M.B. the other week, and Halibrand Steve said basically, "Well heck, how about I just send you one and can make it work". I was asking as to the thread count on a moon or Halibrand gas cap. He did send me one! Thank you sir!!!!

One last one for my hectic morning. A louver customer of mine, fellow schnauzer dad and buddy Richard brought his '49 Kurtis Kraft midget by for me to see on the way to a friend's memorial open wheel get together.

Rick Stewart was a dirt track guy and midget builder extraordinaire, and really helped both myself and ElPolacko with our starts in this gig called hot rodding. He passed a few years ago, but every year the local midget populous gets together to show their cool stuff and eat BBQ in his memory.

I added one to the Team G for the 327 in my chevy II (it didn't even have the boss) with the aid of a hole saw, the inside of a toilet paper roll, and some ground aluminum mixed with JB weld.Necessity is the mother of butchery. I was planning to paint it orange anyway, its still on there.

    Hey, Chip;

I probably missed it in this thread, but do you know the make of the front wheels? That type has been growing on me lately (again), straight & pointy 5-spoke, much like the ~'70s American funny spindle-mount. Old appreciation(s) coming back to the surface w/a vengeance. :D .

I think you should forget about the 4-71, & find an orphaned 6-71 (or better). It'd look better anyways (more proportioned). I've got a v8-71 I oughta send your way, except (1) it's heavy, (2) rotors are scored=lack of lots of boost, (3) it *might* be a little large for a small block chev. But at least a fabulous scoop would be needed as a cover, & would look right. :D .

As to the humor on "Judy-isms", you do keep me laughing. I can relate, because at work we have a # of foreign folks whose 1st language isn't english. Plus, they seem to have problems w/inabilities of pronouncing various consonants &/or vowels. It's hard not to laugh, esp when they get talking fast... :D . They know it, & they're cool about it, too. Sometimes I have to ask them to repeat things - slowly, ( & vice-versa) & we have a laugh... :D . It's all good, & no-one gets put-down over it.

    Marcus...
