    Chip:

Thanks for the pics... I think.

5 spokes in a stack of 4, + the ones in front of & left of the 'spokes, SES carbs - 3, count 'em, *three*(been looking for more info & the carbs themselves for ~3 decades) & dude's got 3 sitting on 1 manifold... & a lemon peeler, too... ... ... I think I'm going to cry... :( . & of 'course the Cubic coin doesn't stack high enough(much less wide or deep enough), even *if* Keith might consent to parting w/stuff. Nuts. Well, at least I can look, when somebody is kind enough to take pics & post them... :D .

Summers down there - well - it's been awhile since I've been lucky enough to be there in summer. 1st time was ~ early 70's, & next time was ~ '77. Last time, too. Loved the area. Still think it's better than MN, think I've had enough cold to last me 3-4 lifetimes. Humidity rather sucks large, too, but only for ~ 5 weeks, early July -> early Aug. Not sure how I'd handle 120*, the older I'm getting, the less tolerance I have for serious extremes. Guess I should be happy we don't have fireants, very few blackwidows, etc. Mossies(& we have world-class around here) & ticks(we're right next door to Lyme-Central & we're catching up real-quick-like) seem to make up for it though... :D . Oh yea, we do have *loads* of rust - & it isn't taxed, *yet*... :D .

Kinda surprised you don't have a.c in the gar. Thought about it here, but isn't really worth it - yet. Never thought about the winter being "fun time" down there, but I can see it now... :D .

I used-up my moms' Schwinn full-size something-or-other from the early 40's. Wish I had it yet.

Take care & keep the fun factor large.

    Marcus...

Guess their is an upside to living in a big southern city.

  8. That party looked like it was a blast. The Phoenix hot rod guys are a very hospitable bunch and really enjoy their hobby. The Phoenix car scene is very cool, and with the weather change, it'll be shifting into high gear and there will be tons of cool stuff to see and do. Winter-time in Arizona is the place to be.

Keith must have some awesome neighbors. I would love it if one of my neighbors had a car party and lit off a couple of Fuelers!

Matter of fact, yes they are seriously cool! I can't show the picture 'cause it's wildly O/T, but when I was walking out to the 'bucket to go home, the next door neighbors were out as a family working on their ATVs and quad runners. They also had a drop dead pretty '66 cal bug with ful polish 2 liter alloys that was VERY familiar. I asked about it, and the father said his son had just found it where it had been sitting in a backyard in mesa since the late eighties and he didn't know a damn thing about it... I did! See, the young guy that built it was good customer of mine at the VW shiop I managed throughout the eighties. I had sold almost every part on the car to him back in the day, and helped him arrange the paint work too! To top it off, 2 liter alloys in full polish were never very common, anywhere, and a quick pull of the a wheel revealed that this set was the set I had polished for my younger brother in '83 for his car! On the back side was a my brothers name and phone number date stamped by the polishing company and Sept '83!!!

  19. Thanks guys for the coverage of an awesome event and how proud one would feel to be on the invite list. Can somebody give me a run down on what I think is a Morris Minor with the blown engine, Nailhead ?, and tilt one piece front sheet metal ?

Sure, this is all good but does he drive it? Hell yes. I live about 30 miles away from Chip and he and Judy just showed up at my house on their way to lunch in Cave Creek. I love how Chip is committed to daily driving what he builds.

Drive it he does. Also, Chip probably won't mind a few more pics of the coupe I showed earlier. Definitely fits the period correctness theme and I bet Fred would enjoy it as well.

Yep, I'm gonna guess that about half of the H.A.M.B.-I-verse doesn't buy that I daily drive hot rods... Hell, I wasn't kidding that since the untimely death of the wagon, this is IT! If I'm going somewhere, you'll see the bucket somewhere near.

I had to make a business appointment out in Tempe this morning to look at a hood for a racing BMW that needs some ventilation help. Then I had to stop by Grant's. Judy's plan fro the day was to wake up late and organize HER closet, but I was having none of that. (funny, it used to be MY ultra spacious, cedar lined walk in closet... Now my clothes are out in the back hall... How in hell DOES that happen?) So, 'bout 10:30 I dumped her in the car, handed her Grant's radiator for the truck, and off we went. Drpped it off at performance radiator, drove out to the super high end motorsports place in Tempe, then up to Grant's ("Endlessearth") place. Just a bit north of his house we stopped and made like tourists and shot a few pictures to let you guys know we do indeed live in the wild west. Then, we stopped in CareFree, AZ., 'cause every now and then you just have take a picture of your girl and your car in front of the world's largest sundial.(rumor has it they couldn't afford a town clock!) After stopping to ransack a couple antique shops, we were off to Big Earl's greasy eats in Cave Creek for a damn tasty burger! Good stuff! Then, the 40 miles or so back to Phoenix, with a quick stop to visit our good friend and neighbor's grave at the Arizona National Cemetary. I didn't tell Judy that's where we were going, but that was really the reason for this little jaunt. See, Joe was a submariner, and a Patriot, and a hell of a great guy. Veteran's Day and Memorial day I'd buy him and I good cigar and sit on his porch and smoke 'em, and drink a beer. Least I could was stop in and say Hi and tidy up his headstone a bit. Miss that guy. Along the way home Judy was saying it was getting a bit hot, and although todays forecast was only 88, we saw several blinkers about town that said 96... She was right, it was a little warm.

Hey, sorry 'bout the sideways cactus... Just tip your monitor on it's side. Damn, I just realized I picked an Asian gal that can't take pictures... What are the odds of that?

Well, I subscribed to this thread not long after you started it and haven't been on here for awhile. Wow.. had to catch up by reading it in "shifts"! GREAT reading! Sorry to hear about your Falcon wagon, looked like a cool car and it's a shame to see it folded up like that. But I really like what you've done with, and are planning for, your t-bucket. FWIW, you can change the title of this thread now - no more "bucket of ugly"!

    Did I get this right?
Judy held the radiator for a 40 mile drive?

Nope, that was the first stop, about 2 1/2 miles. I have been accused of being as sensitive as a sled dog, but I'm not that dumb. That's repercussions territory right there! She did ride the last 40 miles home with her newly acquired tool box at her feet after ransacking the antique shops in Carefree, though.
