Oh yeah, it’s getting a nice polish and cleaning. Those light buckets are next for prep and paint. Hopefully those light rings shine up along with the stanchions and wheel caps.

Maybe they just took a bit longer to get to this end of the world, they are here now & the car looks great!

You can not go wrong with black on a real hot rod, especially a Ford, just ask Henry!

First round of correction is done, going to let it set for a couple of days to harden up and really lean into it. 1031EDBB-C1BE-46A9-85D4-E1935870F5A5.jpeg E36BEAC3-21CD-4117-B090-A5B37CFEFE5D.jpeg

Getting there. Man, those trizact 3000 pads do wonders but put swirl marks in like nobody’s business. What compound do you guys use and how many times do you usually have to go over it to get the swirlies out? A8A0C505-72BC-4BAF-B49F-FEDBACE4A76F.jpeg 84A2B4C0-09C2-4734-81C2-7CDB7B92A964.jpeg

This morning I went back to the beginning and retraced your journey.
Many great choices made (some by trial and error) in your effort to get the period build correct for you.
Personally, the switch to the A grill shell really works for the car.
I think you nailed this thing. Great job!

Just re-read the whole schlemiel. (good word)
Lots of 'speed bumps' along the way, but as Pork'n'Beaner says, "NO HILL FOR A STEPPER".
    Bravo. Fine finish.

Learning new things tonight! Right side door panel is donezo. Thoughts on tightening up the tiny bit of slack in the vinyl? Logic says heat but I don’t want to ruin things. Thinking about holding them in place with velcro. 1/2” foam was a real pain, should’ve done 1/4.” F7C45FE0-20C0-4F2B-AB5F-0D94484B217E.jpeg 14D20F83-4DD3-4A57-9F2C-DE441A1758E4.jpeg BFFD6BB2-FF04-424E-ABB3-6C1FDC1F898D.jpeg

First foot well panel done. 1/4” foam backing is soooo much easier to work with than 1/2”. Need a steamer, those wrinkles bug the crap outta me. E14999F6-8059-4E58-9CD0-1F47016C3687.jpeg

Been enjoying the car lately, haven’t done a thing on the interior since the last post. There’s also been a new distraction. My oldest has been asking to build a car for the last couple years, so whattaya do? Build the kid a dang car! We spent a couple hours looking over different cars appropriate (term used loosely) for a 10-11 yr old and settled on a cyclekart. Basically, we’re building a 3/4 scale 1920’s Miller inspired race car. I know this is a bit off topic, but proud papa moment, so there…..

That's a great project for you and your son. Is it a kit? Will be great memories for you both!

We’re building it from scratch, using some pictures as reference and a model I made in Solidworks. We did find a great little company called Renegade Cyclekarts that sells really nice quality wheel hubs, bent front axle, and various other pre-fabbed parts. Mom is gone for a couple weeks so we certainly have the memory making machine cranked to 11!

Here’s an example of a nice Miller cyclekart that we’re somewhat copying. The biggest difference between a real 1922 car and ours is the lack of a transverse front leaf and our rear axle is solid hard mounted to the frame. Our frame rails are straight with a little taper and pinch in the front to at least create some visual appeal. IMG_8241.jpeg

Thought I’d post a little cyclekart update. Things are starting to take shape as this kid is working his butt off. Colton has Tourette’s but you’d never know it when he gets in the zone, barely any tics.
