Well, I have been pretty busy lately but have found time to work on my axle! I have been grinding down the casting marks. I am having a lot of fun doing it! I am so happy to be able to work on it!:D Here are some pictures of me working on the axle.

Most of the neighbors don't mind (at least not yet:rolleyes:) They just wonder what in the heck I'm doing! There are a couple other hot rodders in the neighborhood. The neighbors know I am always building stuff!

Get a thing called a 'flapper' disc, those hard fiber discs are ok for demolition type work but you'd be better with something that has more finesse.
PM me with your address and i'll send you a couple so's you can give them a try ok?

this is what the H.A.M.B. is all about or at least should be help and encouragement and the passing of the torch to the future generations!

I spend as much time as I can there. Mr. Seidel and Mr. O'connor are the teachers.

I figured I would post this on here. I am trying to find the original body for the Buntline. I have been told that the body was last seen in 1976 at a swap meet in Coldwater Michigan. It was red, white, and blue at the time. Dudley made the body in 1960 for the 1960 car. He also made and sold them. My uncle had one at one time but he sold it and he does not know who he sold it to.

Good luck with your project. I suspect that along the way the folks on the HAMB will help you get this finished. Many eyes looking for parts for you, lots of historical information and mechanical suggestions. Work safe and enjoy what you are doing.

I am not sure but I seem to recall this car from an NHRA points meet at St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada from 1963 or 64 (I was 14 at the time, a long time ago!). Perhaps someone from the vintage drag race folks in Ontario may have a picture of it at St. Thomas.

That is very possible. Dudley sold the car at the end of 1960 to Larry Wolf. When Dudley sold it he had a 392 put in it and a 4 port hilborn and they put "Fiberglass Products" on the side instead of Herbert Cams. I am pretty sure Larry sold it after a year. The car stayed like that until 1965 when it went to Battle Creek.

this is a good point, also you may want to lose the guard off the grinder so you can hold the grinder flatter to the work surface, it helps prevent the grinder from leaving big dig marks. just keep your hands away from the grinding wheel. glad to see your learning at a young age.

Do you have more photos for reference?

I think this is a great project. If you stay committed you'll end up with great skills that'll last a lifetime.

First lesson ... the spindles you pictured are '32, '33 or '34's. They have 7/16" holes where you hoop attaches. The hoop has 1/2" holes. You can drill the spindles to 1/2" but be sure the fab a spacer to make up for your missing brake backing plate on the outside of the spindle. I have seen the hoops threads break at the end of the thread because this wasn't done.

I was under the impression the car was rebuilt as a Street Rod,.. Like what happened to the Mayfair Auto, Joe Liberty, "Happy Feet" coupe.

This is how it looked back in the day.

From what I have been told by Dave Crane is that the car went to Battle Creek and the fenders came off it and it was sold with out the fenders and became a stock car. I have been told it hit the wall and that was the end of the coupe body. The fenders from the coupe are still around. I have pictures of the car that has the fenders. The car also had a metal insert in the grille. Dave Crane had the metal insert and gave it to me!

Well over the last week I have gotten two new parts! Last weekend I bought a 331 hemi! It is in pieces but is all there! I also bought a 6:71 blower. The blower is going to need to be pruned so I can use it. I should have some pictures later tonight.

I figure if you got this good of a start with a engine and a blower, , you are on you way! I was doing wild stuff when I was your age with cars, keep it up and be patient, I got a feeling karma going to keep sending parts your way. Way to go man, just now seeing this!

Suggest posting a "parts needed" list here. Let HAMB help you make it happen. I don't build that style car or engine, but I'll watch for anything which might work for you.

I finally was able to get pictures of my block. The rest of the parts are under the bench. I will hopefully have pictures of the rest soon. Matt
