Go over that thing with a sponge soaked in water and CLR. You will be surprised how nice it will look when you're done. Congratulations!!
soon as it stops raining thats exactly what ill do.just bought the scotch brite pads today.I got alot of the mildew off initially with white wall bleach.worked like a charm.thanks
Thanks for all the kind words guys.Looks like I got a summer project here.Maybe even longer on this boat.
Well, when yer ready to sand.. .I'm yer woman. . . Great score and, seriously, if ya need any help, lemme know
thanks Frankie.we'll be talking about it Im sure.First I need to get it on the road.then the floors.then the body workthanks for the offer
I think Ill be a little more realistic and shoot for the Lonestar Roundup 2010.thanks for the idea though.we also have a Billetproof ,Giddings Texas, coming up in July 2009, but Ill be taking the truck this time most likely.sweet black 59.Thats what Im working towards
Well I dont have too much to update on other than the fact that I just won the exact trunk panel with the fuel tank neck attachment I needed due to the complete rustiness of the one on the car. While it sat for nineteen years the trunk lid trim collected water and it almost totally rotted out the panel from right to left.so that rules. And thanks to the coolness of hotrod69 I'm able to buy a parts car from him(not a two door)which has a complete and dent free front clip, including all 500 pieces of the grill****embly.unbelievable right?I didnt think i should pass that up.lots of extra parts as well other than the rear clip which someone probaly bought to make a couch. So now on to trying to wake the old 390 V8 up from its long nap.luckily everthing is there.Ill try to post some pics of the new grill****embly up soon.
parts car in Beaumont.Going to get it the 24th of May.Thanks hotrod69.He called me the day before this Caddy was to be crushed.close one!perfect too,Ineed the whole front clip to really clean mine up.
Great Score. I Love it. Congrats! My only comment is...save your $$$, the parts are crazy expensive. Check each one and look for compatability w/ other makes of that year. I have a 51 Coupe De Ville...and so far, my wallet is blowing moths because of it.
Yeah your right about that.So far so good though. With the car ,the parts car and the ebay win(sorry haters) Ive got hardly anything in this project so far .You probaly wouldn't believe me if I told you.Thanks.
Javier Please let me know if you find a good rear bumper center section that you don't need. Mine is warped all to hell. The rest of the bumpers are good, but need chrome ($$$$$$$$$). Thanks Gary
Wow very nice. Keep it nice, don't do anything goofy, like 98% of the people here would do. (Don't ruin it!) Nothing wrong with doing a car original, or close to it. Classic like this..... you mess with it, you ruin it, and you ruin the value of it!
Thanks for the advice. Most likely the only "goofy" thing I will do is have two inch dropped springs made for the front.Otherwise I love the car the way it is.It will be nice someday. I hope
Lookin' good! Used to have a '59 Conv and sold it for $900 when I was a kid.....who knew? Anyway, write me if you need some parts. thanks, Jeff in CT (Formerly of Balmorhea, TX!)
I had that exact car and I sold it to buy a 65 Linc Continental Convertible. BIG MISTAKE! I loved that car.....
