Man, I love to see a kool old car on pristene wheels and tyres straight out from its long term resting place, it makes you dream of all the possibilities. And there's certainly no better candidate than a 59 or 60 caddy. That thing is the stuff of Dreams Javier! Can't wait to see how it evolves and you can rest****ured it'll look bad**** at every step of the way, from as found to pristine...what a beauty. F

GREAT find! It's pretty sweet how it's a two door too. 1959 Cadillacs are some of the best looking cars ever.

  3. Javier,
I've got the same car @ 12 yrs into it. Do yourself a favor and take it to a frame shop after you take all the front off down to the wheels. It's easy to work on because there's so much room. Just take your time and some photos before disassembling sections because there are LOTS of parts and its a little complex but had to be that way to be what it was in it's day. There's a lot of engineering in that gorgeous machine, so be patient. Don't have too many friends helping on the take down. I was going to do a "body off" but the frame shop told me that over 20 bolts hold it on and that the body position is critical to the overall alignment. Being a Texas car, there was only surface rust on the frame so I just sandblasted it. By the way, the front had been wrecked and straightened long ago but not with today's technology. Even so, it was only $500 to have the whole vehicle put into 1/32" of factory specs. at all 4 corners. If the front end had still been on it would've been $1200 min. My 57' BelAir is like playing with Tinker Toys compared to the Caddy, so don't frustrate yourself with brash time-line promises. You'll find that you can buy a 3-2bbl set up, disc brakes, wire wheels and all kinds of cool stuff for it if you go that way with it but it's beautiful just stock. Good luck and groove on Harley Earl's swansong!

Thanks wingspread7.Im already realizing that this is no "Tinker Toy".Luckily I really dont have any unrealistic goals for finishing but Ill be driving it as soon as I can whether it looks great or not. Most likely it will stay pretty stock besides lowering the front two inches or so.Thanks for the advice.Would love to see pics of your Caddy.Got any spare parts laying around:D

  9. Javier,
You're welcome. There's no such thing as spare parts untill I'm done but I'll let you know after I finish.

Did you put new wheels and tires on it already? Man thats the last thing I would have put money into on that. Looks like it needs a lot of work..

Yes.Turns out FOR YOUR INFORMATION I had the tires and wheels already from another vehicle. They look badass and thats all the reason I need.Plus the tires on it would only hold air for about twenty minutes due to the fact that they were over twenty years old ,rotted and half buried in dirt under 5600 pounds of 59 Cadillac.I also mentioned earlier that I purchased a 59 parts car and some trunk pieces off ebay.So the tires were not the first thing I spent money on.Ill keep you posted.THANKS :D

Great score man. I hope to have Caddy one day, but first I need to get my 54 F100 on the road first.

Finally brought the 1959 Cadillac 4door donor car back from southeast Texas last weekend.the front clip is close to perfect. After 600 miles and 12 hours driving its in the garage.thanks again to hotrod69 for the amazing deal.this thing was one day away from being crushed by the way.now for the hood, fender and grill swap.this should be interesting.damn these things are heavy.

  20. If at all possible, get a couple of other guys and try to do it in one piece...

Sounds crazy, I know. If you have an engine hoist and 2 guys lifting it off in one piece beats the hell out of unbolting everything and re-aligning...

That parts car sounds like a helluva score!

Exactly.the guy I got the car from suggested the same thing. Thanks Todd:)

  22. I learned the hard way on a big Olds of the same vintage...

I imagine the Caddy is even worse...no one needs to go through that...

    Good luck man...

Heres the pics of the front end of the parts Caddy.this is basically the reason I got it.not bad for $200.theres a few other worthy things left in it otherwise this thing is scrap.well actually the hood and front fenders are going on the car and most of the floors are nice.also scored a fender skirt off of it that i needed.should be interesting getting everything swapped.

  29. Javier in a truck,
A common malady is rusting out of the fender tops just behind the headlights. Do yourself a big favor: Get up there and clean that area out and if nothing else spray some POR paint up inside that until you can get around to the body work. Chuck
