Got some new hardware that needed some 'tuning'
Hinges back on with no washers ( before it was loaded to make up for B pillar being bent) all 3 Hinges at B pillar had nuts welded in and the upper the holes didn't line up. I hogged out the hinge and beveled the now oval hole, mint. 20250706_105039.jpg 20250706_105108.jpg

Closed the door and I still have a big gap.
Cut off wheel to the lower pillar braces and a ratchet strap got me back in shape.
Now waiting for the MIG wire delivery so I can get back together 20250706_122954.jpg 20250706_122757.jpg 20250706_122804.jpg 20250706_131127.jpg 20250706_131112.jpg

Got the delivery and welded the pillar brace. Released the ratchet strap and the door opening opened up again! Ratchet strap ratchet tight again and temp brace from A pillar to B pillar. Move onto gas tank 20250706_145322.jpg 20250706_145743.jpg 20250706_185201.jpg 20250706_185221.jpg
Red squirrel is homeless now. Not calling myself a welder until I can seal this tank. It has about a dozen leaks in it

Went over a fellow Snapper's place, he's got torches. We heated up and bent the 3 hinges back to straight. Installed the door and don't you know it closed the gap quite a bit! 20250708_172512.jpg 20250708_172523.jpg 20250708_172529.jpg
Man, I am pumped about this!!

After studying the driver's door for the last couple of weeks I just can't stop looking at the cowl patch, it's crooked! The eye doesn't lie. I cut it off, cleaned up the adjoining areas very carefully and then tacked it back on. Now I will be able to sleep tonight 20250708_172843.jpg 20250708_175743.jpg

You're a better man than I - for me it would have been " close enough for who it's for"

I locked in the cowl patch, stitch welded the rocker below the door, then mocked up my future panels. 20250709_200524.jpg

Been holding off on the door tops for lack of confidence. Today I just went for it and I'm happy with the results 20250711_120627.jpg 20250711_120635.jpg 20250711_151358.jpg

You are doing a great job. The door alignment is perfect.
I’m watching and learning from your progress. I’ll be going through the same process, at some point.
    Thanks for sharing the photos.

Sheet metal fitting and measuring and fitting and re-fitting and shrinking and stretching and cutting and fitting. Driver's side quarter panel was cut off pretty high behind the door. I don't have a beader die to make the reveal but I do have an old patch panel. . . . Quite happy with the results. Shrinking and stretching tools are excellent 20250714_171518.jpg 20250714_172137.jpg 20250714_173540.jpg 20250714_174218.jpg 20250714_181206.jpg 20250714_194431.jpg
Going to slowly and carefully weld these pieces in. This is curved front to back and top to bottom

PHEW! Slow and slower. Small tack welds, pushing out from the back to keep it from sucking in. It's hard for me to go slow- I want to zip it up and be done!
Very happy with my patience and the results of being patient. 20250715_161903.jpg 20250715_161941.jpg 20250715_162010.jpg

I am so glad that door top came with the car, that sucker fits right on there.
