I may as well put my 2 cents worth in as well. Love the shape and the Chop. Wish it had of been for sale near me..I love it as it is. I'd keep the windows and just fit dark tint, or paint, or wrap over them. Mind you, It's your car, so don't pay too much attention to me. Agree with the reliability changes, after all, it's gonna be a work horse.

It sounds like it was/is reliable. Maybe fix the carbs. Put a 200r4 behind the six, it'll fit better than the 700. Love it, stripe it. Roll it with the windows.

  4. Oh, okay I got that, American wheels. Sorry bout that Ryan I had too much company Sunday couldn't think straight.

Mr Ford you and all the other rods on here never give me grief, just constructo critisism. I learned to take it all the years striping. Keep it coming.

My vote would be to leave it. I'm a sedan delivery guy too. But how many chopped wagon's of that vintage are there? Look's great as is. Curtains would give you as much privacy as an SD.

Glad to see Danny's old ride is going to stay in Austin. Danny Young was a great guy, knew a ton of people around here, and seeing Big Lu Lu driving around town will be a great reminder of the Mayor of South Austin.

  7. Well you are a kind man to take in such an ugly orphan. :D

I thik it looks good either way sedan delivery or wagon. Whatever you do with it I am sure that you won't destroy the original integrity of the old custom chebby.

Don't know what you paid but it looks like a good score from here. Congrats

  8. Okay the vote are in...it will remain as is. Won't change a thing.

Unfortunately, it is not in Austin but somewhere between New Braunfels and Seguin. If someone wants to take it back to Austin, I'll sell it. Need money to work on the other delivery.

  9. I didn't read all the posts but 53 sedan deliveries aren't that rare. 2 door wagons are. there is one in Oregon and I can't remember any others
this wagon is also a six and part of a 150 car collection, John has p***ed also. told me it was as good of daily driver as any car in his fleet.

  10. NONAME...Yes, I've seen that two door wagon. Very nice.

Does anyone in Austin have pics of Lu-Lu when Danny had it in the old days?

to upgrade without really doing anything too obvious how about a S10 five speed transmission? check out article in new January 2011 issue of Street Rodder magazine on installing one into a '51 Chevy-page 132 "Transformation"

Wow Mikey what a great score .Its a legend so why change it.Just drive it....

  17. It's already lowered. I think the subframe was z'd when they put it in. Could go lower but then it would hit every hole in Seguin.

  27. Yep, it is for sale. Everything I have is for sale and since it is a 3 speed manual and I have severe diabetic neuropathy in the feet working the clutch is a pain. But I did get the carbs working good and it runs and drives down the road great. Gonna go ahead and get tags on it until someone buys it.

That ****s it seemed like you were excited to have it and had big plans for it. If I had the money I would buy it I like it.

  30. Nobody wanted it?!?!? I guess they are all, "Check out my boss four door!" It's cool as is, and I appreciate the history, but I have a soft spot for deliveries...
