Man, I dont know, I just dont know.... Man regardless of why it ****ed up, I'm pretty sure a drive and his SEAT is not supposed to be ejected from a race car if its built properly? Danny
Thanksabunch Danny. It worked. Helluva ride! All I can say is he is one lucky mofo for NOT boltin' his seat in correctly. That's the only thing that saved him was him comin' outta the car at the perfect time! If he woulda stayed with it, he might not have walked away. Someone's tryin' to tell this guy somethin'.
See when he first drops the clutch it spins the tires then it starts hooking and going, but the rear end is bouncing up and down - there are no dampening of the rear end and it lets it unload the tires when it goes up.
Why, oh WHY would you get back in the gas?!?! That run was toast as soon as he crossed the center line (... well, really before that even). Why not coast through the lights and live to make another p***? - Matt
why would someone let that in the track? i was thinking that it was really bad spring wind up caused by to much power/tire no ladder bars/******* bars, etc. but it appreared to be bouncing up and down rather than releasing in a series of hops (tramp). horrible. and it is not throttle modulation doing that.
It plays perfect for me Larry!!! BTW 12.30 aint top fuel but it aint standing still. Not a shoebox but check this one out!!!!! http://media.putfile.com/KoretskyVSAllen/original
OMG...its not that funny, but the facts are true...what good does a seatbelt do you if it flies out. ?
it says #3, where's 1 and 2? I tried their website but could only find a cool video of a machine grinding a cam...
It looked like the rear end had a cross member attached to it when it was flying through the air...looked like maybe a 4-link set up, and the whole thing ripped out of the ch***is when it rolled. I see two "sticks" (links or???) running from the housing forward, to what I think is a cross member--it's about frame-width, with a dip in the middle like I've seen advertised in magazines by Ch***is Works, etc. The tire bounce looks like he had shocks that weren't adjusted properly--I've seen cars with dead shocks drive down the road, and the tire bounces up and down just like that, and seemingly doesn't affect the driver. I've seen it on the front of one car and the back of a couple vans. If a four or five point harness is being worn by the driver, and it's mounted properly, even if the seat does rip loose, wouldn't the driver's body keep the seat sandwiched in place between his back/*** and the seat belt mounting points? And yeah, I'm always amazed when guys decide to put their foot back in it. -Brad
hes a lucky ***, why in the hell on a total **** p*** did he get back into it and then try to steer back in the groove? I got a stupid *** mullet warrior by my house that drives his piece of **** like that...... he thinks its cool. cops love him...
Anybody ever heard that expression "**** happens...real quick at 90mph" Well that's where it comes from.
And it just had to be 55 didn't it. damn, makes me glad i did my own car and know it aint like that, cause i prolly ain't as lucky as that guy is..........shiiiiiiiiiit...
The first thing I noticed was a ****load of tire shake on the launch, absolutly over powering the track. Second ,where are all the guard rails? Even the ****tier tracks in the aria at least have armco! How old is this vidio? Why this guy tryed to be a hero and not lift is beyond me. I'll bet he doesn"t do that ever again.
You know what occured to me? If he'd been running on a "modern" track with concrete barrier side walls he'd be a dead man. He would have T-boned the wall and probably gone through the windshield half-way. Upside down. He'd be a stain on the wall. That gr***y area probably made the car gymnastics more violent but probably helped save his dumb ***! I'm just amazed. Dan
I didn't see leaf springs, I think it has ladder bars...they just bounce up and down. No fore/aft movement. Saw this happen on a 67' Mustang that did the EXACT same thing...but in the traps at 121mph....it tripped the timers sliding though its lane on its roof before it hit the wall and went into a serious of barrel rolls. His problem was that his new adjustable shocks were set full soft both ways. Car was boucing all over the place during his run and kept unloading the tires - until is broke a ladder bar mount! Of course I could be wrong...since this is all based on a video and no inspection of the actual car.
He fell out of the seat (and the car) before the seat shot from the car. Chances are the seatbelts were bolted to something rusty, just like the seat and the rear end.
Gettin' dumped on your *** & surviving a crash like that is amazing! Probably the one time a seat belt would have killed the driver...if it would have done it's job.
That car is most definitely a rat rod. He's one lucky mofo. and Shoeboxes are FORDs. This coming from a mostly-GM guy.
This was probably recorded in 1985-1986.There is a Buick GN and about an '85 Vette in the background as he rolls to the starting line. This is a video from Jackson Brothers Video.I have seen a couple of their vids, all pretty good. http://www.roadsters.com/video/#jbv
