Hot Rods The Cast Off Truck Build

  1. Looks like the roof broke where it was chopped? A good reason to reinforce those joints as many have mentioned over the years here.

  2. Pretty confident Jim S could turn that cab into some one of a kind wind in your face talk of the board.

  3. Sure wish I was closer...I could use that bed!

All bed sides are the same from '39 up at least through '54. Width changed from 48" to 50" in '48.

I like the way that kid thinks. Double bonus for sticking with the flatty.

He really wants to make sure that everything is period correct. He gets wrapped around the axle on the fact if they weren’t original Ford parts.

Dad and Colby blew it apart this weekend. They said all of the bodywork was lead. No bondo.

This is the only pic I have so far.

  9. Can't help but think the PO of the wrecked truck bought red paint in bulk.

  10. Is the frame tweaked towards the driver's side, or is that an optical illusion?

    Roothawg,
He’s gonna end up with $800 in it, so he should come out all right.

The rear fenders alone may be worth $800. When I started looking for rear fenders for my 37, way back in the 1970s I found out that all of America was looking for them too. In all the years since, I never found any for sale at Pate until one year 5 showed up with two vendors. Yes of course I bought them all.

    I think he did alright.

I haven’t looked at it up close. It may be sectioned.

Dan, I think it’s an optical illusion.

Colby says everything was painted in place. Yeas, he liked red.

He just called me and told me he sold the bed on FB marketplace for $200 to a Chevy guy. Down to a $600 investment now.

Man...I wish I would have asked more questions about the bed... I didn't think of him selling it already. The old snooze you lose deal I suppose. :D

He’s on a limited budget, so money is always a driving factor. He listed it and sold it in 10 minutes.
