Features The Classy Kustoms Thread

  1. The pic I posted is the only pic I've seen of the car. Let's say the exterior is semi-classy? ;)

As a matter of fact - either black car in the picture passes the test.

  6. I'd say you can throw in Rick Dore's 36 and Timebomb John's 36 in there too..

  15. My Opinion on calling this car or that car classy, is more a matter of opinion. As soon as standards for "classy" are defined, like saying a suede paint job isnt classy, or using such and such items arent classy, then it takes away from the core goal of kustoms. to Create something unique that maintains the high standards of the original but improved. Just my opinion... Classy speaks for itself I believe.

I've thought about this alot in building my car, which is most definitely not classy, more sporty than anything. I know everyone says glossy paint = classy, but there is one thing nobody has mentioned, HUBCAPS! I'm telling you take a Kustom and put steelies on it and it gets a lot more bare bones looking. That's why my car will never have hubcaps, its just not the look I'm going for. Also, things like bench seats are more classy than buckets, and an appropriate color choice. IMO bright orange will never be classy, but an era-proper navy blue or maroon is.

I think the grille takes that car from 'Classy' to 'Showcar' status.

As raw stock, tor the classy look, the '35/'36 Ford really get it. Although the '40s Caddies can come close.

  24. twochops, is that your buick? if so i'm jealous! jack james' car is one of my alltime favs, but, i always thought a hair cut would've been a little nicer. pics from riksters site.

Your right...now were controlled by purists and must adhere to a strict formula...my bad. I thought the whole reason customizing cars came about, was to take older styles and make them look more modern...
Don't get me wrong, anyone who knows me, knows that my tastes run as traditional as they get. I built my 49 Bus. coupe, 53 Bel Air and 55 Ford all to look like something you would see in a H.S. parking lot during the mid to late 50's.
But as far as customs go, I think that this is a beautiful example of a clean and un-clutered full custom that shows great craftsmanship and good taste.

that car just doesnt scream class to me eithier ...... the over the top chop and the mini trucker pinch weld laying out is in a different category. that car is no comparison of any kind to matrangas car. that car just has that modern feel to it for some reason.im sure alot of people love it for the shock effect but its no comparison to matranga or sams merc or the colori coupe..... now this 3 window is class[IMG]
