Car is running good. Getting 18 mpg too.

    Happy gauges

We're getting dinner somewhere in Mississippi now.

Saw one other old car on the road. A 58 to 60 Vette, primer gray with a maroon hardtop, going the other way on I20

This is great, enjoy every moment you have with your boy. The vette looks good, that's what they are for, driving. Good Luck!

What a crap comment. Stereotype much.

Carry on with your adventure Jim. Can you ever have too much fun? Apparently not. People to be met and places to be scene along the way. Thanks for letting us ride along in the back seat as such.:)

    Enough derailing Jim’s thread.

  15. Jim & Steven stopped by my place for a visit around 1:00 pm and I can't express how much I enjoyed them taking the time to tell tall tales and going for lunch at Arnold's Hamburgers, I took them to ACE hardware for Gorilla tape and RainX, time passed much to quickly and they were soon gone, Good luck with drag week my friends.

The Vette looks like it would be so much fun and they both had grins that a side grinder couldn't remove.

That's called a Fingergrip ignition switch. Once it's out of the lock position, you can remove the keys and give them to your wife when you drive off to work for the day. Common to GM cars at the time.

Makes it tough to get home if you shut the switch off;)

  25. You need the key to turn it to the lock position

That is interesting. My first car was a '56 Chevy and it had a similar looking switch but, I never knew that was an intended feature. Learn something new every day as they say!

It’s probably the early Chevy Off-On-Off switch.
Left Off is locked if the key is out.
If you remove the key when it’s in the On position, you can turn it off by rotating to the right Off. Then you can turn it On and Off without the key. It’s for a system with a separate start button

Old GM Holdens us the same or very similar ignition switch. The keys come out of them too. I always figured it was because the lock tumblers/key ridges were flogged out, but perhaps I am wrong.

    Cheers,
