  2. Is the wheel color changing? If not, I say the car is going to be copper, black, white, or a combination of copper and black/white. Maybe seaweed flames or scallops.

Hey, ya' gotta' cast a wide net on this type of shit.

Cool... Glad you liked the article in Garage mag, they did an awesome job and Stoner is a ruler... love that guy, way cool!
Since then the girlfriend in the photos and I have parted ways, bummed it didn't work out because she was an awesome friend. But on a very Positive note... I met the love of my life 3 months after the photo shoot and break up, so i'm pretty stoked at the moment and my new girlyfriend loves my rod ... i mean my car:) I took her to Paso this year and she enjoyed it very much.

change is good and refreshing! plus things that were hidden under that spray can paint job will be fixed properly and done up right:) it's going to look awesome when it's finished.
    updated pics coming tonight!

yes it is and here are a few more updated pics from last week:)
Alex chose to go down to bare metal and do this car right, but with that, it's going to take a bit longer and be a little more on the expensive side of a new paint job.

front view, you can see the bondo work from the previous paint job that needed a bit more fixen after what he discovered what was underneath that:( Must have been pretty rusted out before on bot side of the cowl!

top view, some of the smaller peices went to the sand blaster to save time and they just came back yesterday. I love the chicken wire on the roof!

    i'll post more pic tomorrow:)
    thanks for looking,

    here ya go Blake:)
More pics of Alex starting to add his own bondo and blocking to get the body nice and smooth for first round of primer. ( Notice the brand new 4" recessed firewall near the front tire) ordered it straight from Brookville and came in 5 days... super stoked on how fast it got to me. tried to order one from Vintage Ford in Sacto, they said 4-6 weeks... lame:( the old one was haggered, cut up and silicon filled all over with little screws holding peices on.

    bare metal and new bondo
    [IMG]

crappy weld job uncovered under the old bondo, both side look like this.

plus there's a big piece missing on the corner of the bottom part of the cowl, Alex re-welding a new peice and filled it in, looks awesome now ( new primer pics tomorrow)
    thanks for looking,

Yea the old color combo was pretty cool, that's what got my attention in the first place and not many cars have that same paint scheme. But it was time for a change and to make that car look even better:)

Yea the new firewall was a must, plus the way they cut out the section where the Don Zig magneto is removed in and out on the old one was a bit hokey and sealed with silicon, plus it wasn't mounted to the cowl properely and at an angle pitched back (not straight up and down) for some odd reason:(

was Silicon ...the new duct tape back in 1996?

I never claimed once to be a "hotrodder", but i do drive one. so everyone on here has a garage large enough to weld, paint and upholster thier own cars and don't have any outside work done on them?
sure i'd like to learn some day, but i'm not going to have a car i spent tons of money on to be the "guinea pig" for all the fuck-ups while learning to do all the things i want done to this car. If i do ever start from scratch it will be from something... i scored cheap, isn't that how to do it:)

Yea ...what is up with coil covers, who put/snuck those on there anyways?
Brookville fire wall... what a dumb move... I could have just got some sheet metal and made one myself or found one at a swap meet ( there's one every weekend here in Norcal) for a good/cheap price:) I'm so dumb and i can't believe that i'm on this website, i feel so stupid now, excuse me while i go and cry in a corner:(

Have you seen my garage, it's fill with tons of toys and dirtbikes, i wish i had more room or i would have my own shop/garage, isn't that everyones dream on here:)
And what was i thinking, painting on canvas with acrylics is just like doing body work, blocking, sanding and painting your own car, your right... i've got da SKILLS... yea sure!

I'm not right or wrong ... i just have lots of cash to play with because people like my shoes and decks:) funny though, can't quite figure out why people just want to hand me money every month for just playing around on a skateboard... life's weird:(

  19. WOW! That was an ignorant statement!!!>!>!>!>!>! Give Cab some credit. As far as he has told us, this is his first old hotrod. He is learning, did it occur to you that he is trading skate schwag for the learning time?

Or trading his time with his club buddies that are doing the work?

Cab, thanks for the update on a cool car getting cooler. I hope you make the HAMB drags or some other thing I am at. I will autograph your skateboard.

    Touché Tman!!!

Who gives a toss who does the work, as long as that ride is enjoyed and driven it's none of you're business - unless your wife's in the passenger seat:D:D:D:D:D

Cab - I am loving the progress - keep us updated. Can't wait to see what's in store for that tin....

don't be an ass...this is a place to learn, meet new people and shoot the shit...its not always about being the most "hardcore"... its a message board not a pissing contest...

cabs a skateboarder not a builder...hes not mad at you because you can't kickflip a picnic table...but ill pay money to see you try.

it is "spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods & customs".

take that how you must but i see that if you like the cars and culture and you can share something or have imput then the hamb is for you...you dont have to do everything on your car to belong here...

sorry im kinda new but something about that chapped my ass...

ill stop before i get really fired up...

oh sorry to go off...all i really want out of this thread is pics...

  24. if your gonna Rag on Cab you should include Ryan and any other Hamber who shops out work!! Hell I paid a guy to narow my rear end on my r/pu. This drama crap is what sucks .Your car is awsome Cab and you are a inspriration I dig your ego less attitude and your humbleness. When we talked at the cow palace I felt a common bond thats why i dig hot rods it allows me to have that with others like you.

  25. Hi Everyone,

My name is Danny and I... I... I have a craftsmanship problem. I didnt build my hot rod. And I'm forced to rely on my other talents to supply me with enough cash to pay for the parts I cant build myself and the generosity of friends to help me where my skills fall short. All I have is friendship and a willingness to learn to offer those who help. I know admiting I have a problem is the first step...

    Danny

to add to that the car isnt being completly rebuilt its a flipin paint job and a new "panel" -firewall-

how many of you have had a trashed quarter panel fixed it and then did all the body work and painted your car yourself?

unless you own a body shop some one helped you out.
how many shiney paint jobs on the hamb were done by the owner-minus shop owners-

i guess all those guys that went to school and invested all that time in money in learning a trade and sticking it out to become good if not great at it are just a bunch of morons because its abvously just paint and metal guys, any one can do that with out any training or practice

yeah guess we got it all wrong, we should just go back to our totaly equipt for everything shops and build cars entirely by our selfs.

  27. LMFAO :D Well put Danny.

Cab I bet you get more out of this hobby than alot of others, learning is a big part of it. I am going through the learning bodywork the RIGHT WAY! It sucks.. I am over sanding, I can't weld panels yet, I blow holes in em, I can spray but not that well, like Danny I'm glad I have friends that are willing to teach me how to do it right, BUT it takes a shitload of time and if you aint got time to spare you use whatever means possible to achieve the end result.
And as you said yourself you have too much invested to start learning on it, I'm practising on an old 62 Holden (its not my first car I have built) but I am learning to do it right, so far 2 and a half years have gone by. I will then tackle a freshen up on my roadster with confidence that I won't fuck it up.

anyway the coups coming along nicely can't wait to see the end result.

  28. Progress looks good cab, cant wait to see it at the asphalt invational and the strangers bbq.

Hiya's Cab! The car is looking great so far. Hope to see ya' at the Strangers thingy. We're in the process of moving to Reno,sooo.......! Also, don't let the few guys get ya' down about not doing the work on yer' car. Not every-one can do every-thing!! I build bikes and I can't paint! That's what friends that can do other things are for! Laterz my friend!

  30. As far As I'm concerned, you got a problem with the Cab you got a problem with me buddy.
You have obviously never met the man.

He has NOTHING to prove in my book.
    Cheers
