    "Started out as...???" "Was probably a Merc...???" Did the manufacturer designation change on the ***le while it was under construction..??? Did the owner change the name of the car...??? I'd suggest it STILL is a Mercury. I just don't understand why people think the manufacturer name changed if it was kustomized...!!!

    I ***umed it was the real car, Mick, but did not verify.
    It wasn't around much, and the light wasn't great right there in the drive in, but glad you like it!

    the chuck dewitt car is a clone. barry mazza has pictures of it being built.

    So the story about buying it from a kid who needed the money to go to Alaska to work on a fishing boat is not true. The owner of the car (I heard) also has another Barris car. He was told of another(Dewitt) car built by Barris sitting. The present owner tried buying it for sometime until he needed money for the Alaska adventure. In the trunk was some rare pieces that came on the car from the 50`s. That`s the story I heard at the show.
