Cool car Ryan,I also can't wait till all this weather breaks so I can go back to driven either of my cars daily.
'Bout time you filled us (those waitin' for details) in on this "new" car. Glad you're diggin' it! I rode a bobbed '47 H-D as my only transport for four years and have had a generator equipped, power nothing, no radio or A/C etc. '62 Holden ute as my daily for the last five years. I wouldn't have it any other way! PS install an oil filter.
I had a 50 chevy I used for a daily driver a few years back. It was rough, and had no heat. I used to keep it in the shop at work in the winter so it would at least be at room temperature inside when I would start my drive home. That was great fun, I forgot how much until I read this today, this 68 buick I drive everyday now seems like a new car by comparison with heat a/c and an automatic.
ryan you have an awesome way with words. i like the new daily and can't wait for the day that my old car becomes my daily and for some reason a/c is no longer in the plans for mine. ray
Great story, great car, Ryan, but check your math, I think '39 models are 70 years old, I know I am,,,,
I've always liked that car but the black wheels & blackwalls absolutely put it over the top! LOVE IT!!!! JH
Ryan, That is one neat and clean '39 Ford Deluxe Sedan ! If you take care of it, it will take care of you. Enjoy it and post updates on your drive test as it progresses.
Harrison, It's my dad's car. He just happens to be a recent transport to a Dripping Springs address... I'll probably be out to the Austin area soon enough, once my girl finishes her Master's degree.
I love the black walls and wheels, awesome car, cant wait to see it in person. Congrats, I wish I had a 10 mile scenic commute, I would drive my car, as well, every day.
Ryan, I'll tell 'ya what.....the majority of my interest here lies in early-60's drag racing but that Black '39 Ford of yours is one sharp ride! I really, and I mean REALLY, like the way that car looks with the blackwall tires and black steelies and perfect stance.
Great post Ryan, The ol Orange 32 was a daily driver years ago when I lived here at the shop.....loved "that part of living in Austin".....but I love living waaay out right now! Wish I could come visit Saturday, but I'm gonna be shooting machine guns and such stuff....dang the luck! See ya soon, Skot
Danny=Real classy guy, epitomizes the HAMB. I pm'd him about that sedan when my car was in the "planning" stages. Dude called me and we talked for over an hour about that car and some ideas for mine (I wanted a dropped axle car and he encouraged me to do so when all my friends said Mustang 2). Glad to see the car went to a good home! Tradrod (Steve)
My brother lives just south of Dripping Springs. He moved there about a year ago, out of Austin. I haven't been able to get down there yet, but my folks have been there several times and everytime they come back, my dad says, "Man, you should see all the old cars down there!". I will pop, sooner or later... Love the look of your '39 Ryan. I'm a white wall lover too, but that black on black combo just looks mean.
Thanks Ryan. Nice road, Nice car. I'm looking at a new work route which is bumper to bumper, stoplight to stoplight aggressive peak hour madness, 24 mile round. I'm buying a $200 Japanese shitbox for that run.
I think I have done that drive. How about the sign for Dripping Paint. That is in Dripping Springs I think. Wil www.sakowskimotors.com
Great ride Ryan ! The hill country is so beautiful, all that German country. How lucky (but we make our own luck, don't we?) to be living and driving in such a place. Jerry Jeff, Willie, paisanos, Fredericksburg, etc. What a great vibe Have to agree with need louvers ? that it is very difficult to drive the 4-drum brake vintage cars in the big city. Would you send one of your kids out on the Atlanta or Phoenix highways with 100-some hp in a 3,600 lb. car with all drum brakes? When you are surrounded by thousands of various levels of distracted idiots with all disc brakes who are in a much bigger hurry than you? Putting 4 discs on my '51 Chevy for Charlotte driving with my son in mind. Anyway, kudos to you for putting yourself in such a great place where you can do what you're doing !
Ryan, thanks for the daily driver story.Thats a nice car. By the way ,I received my Alliance member tag today,I cant wait to install it on the old chevy. Nice job, thanks for all you do.
That's what it's all about, ain't it? '39 DeLuxe is my favorite Ford, but I woulda held out for a coupe.
way to go ryan. there is something very appealing about using aclassic ride as a daily. i drove a 1946 studebaker pick up 350/350 chopped 4in for five years if you only got 1 thumbs up a day it was worth it. i had a mild heart attack in 07 and the wife insisted on new pickup and it sucks but my 41 ford pick up will be driveable in the summer 10 and the grin factor goes back up enjoy tom
I hate to be the one to point this out, but that car was sixty years old in 1999. Unless you mean sixty years old in the sense of a circa 1950 hot rod. Very cool. I'll flatter myself and suggest that maybe it's a similar experience to me daily driving my Falcon. -Dave
