The "De ARMOND & MARKLEY Special" '29 Ford Roadster first ran at the 8th Annual Bonneville National Speed Trials (held August 27th thru September 2nd 1956).

The Dodge HEMI powered roadster ran a one-way top speed of 174.41 MPH and raised the B Roadster cl*** (two-way) record to 163.761 MPH on Saturday (9/1/56). However, the Perry Boys '29 Roadster (also Dodge HEMI powered) bumped the B Roadster cl*** record up to 168.797 MPH on Sunday (9/2/56).

Mr. William Hewitt traveled to and from Bonneville with the De Armond & Markley #106 Roadster (and Herda #999 'liner) crew ... Here's Hewitt's photographs of the roadster at the '56 event:

NOTE: The grille artwork was done by a local high school kid.
Charlie Markley says it was even better in color!

Unfortunately, the #106 Roadster didn't fair well at the '57 event as it could only muster a 111.52 MPH p***.

That is one killer Hotrod, a great series of photos and a great bunch of relative good ole days history. Thanks @HEMI32
