I wouldn't say nothing has been going on, I completely wore out the latest flathead, do a search. Guess I would say I hit the ground running.... And to where we are now, yes, it is torn down again... No testies trades are entertained here, now maybe a 40 merc coupe..
i havent updated this thread in a long time, but here is the scoope... I am retrofitting a 59ab flatty into my old hotrod. This means I have also changed transmissions to a 49 merc trans. Engine and trans are now in place and trying to hook up the mechanical odds and ends. I will add pictures as I can figure out how.
Hey guys, sorry for the lack of video disappointment. I had phone melt down the week I was getting the ol girl running and now my new phone hasn't let me down load the hamb app. My phone has been my main source of hamb connection. Honestly I haven't even gotten video yet. I will make video a high priority, just to be clear, it does run! and smoke! and stop! and steer! and look rustier than ever! and need the tires balanced!....
I would like to thank Mr. olson for the encouraging phone calls and parts donations to help get me to finally bring this ol heap back to life... thanks Dan...
Haha, yes, kind of dreamy. He sure came through, wouldn't be on the road without his cast off parts. Jay, it is like Dan stepped up and filled the void with the phone calls to keep me on track while you have been keeping yourself busy chasing a career half way across the country. Hope all is well. We went on a little cruise with some fellow hot rodder to have dinner at a steak house in a nearby town. Had a great afternoon testing the patience of everyone while I was trying to get my coupe to keep up with everyone. After some ignition problems on the way there, I was relieved to have a great drive home. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
So the basic rundown of where I am at right now. ! I have been running an 8ba hooked to an overdrive shoebox transmission. I now have a 59ab hooked to a 49 merc trans. I definitely have some things to straighten out, but it does feel good to be on the road. Jay, not sure that the ol coupe is ready to make it out to visit yet. Tim, man thanks. It really is just a beater compared to yours. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I think you are right Nosurf, an update is in order. Or maybe a new rebuild thread. We will see. Patience grasshopper.
Well, I did spend a little time cleaning up the coupe and getting the coupe with a little color sprayed on it. I once again decided to put it in the omaha world of wheels car show but this time the crew wanted to do a Hot Rods of Omaha display and I figured that it was time to clean up the coupe in the looks department. I did as much body work and paint as I could in a weekend. I just lightly sprayed some black lacquer over some ered oxide primer and instant aged black lacquer.
I am going to try to post up more pictures of the process. It sure was fun, I ended up with what feels like a completely different car. well, Jay that would be a deal.... except I sprayed all I had, I might need to round up some more so I can get some of that Maple syrup!!
Hmmm, maybe you can track down the new owner. . Well here are a couple shots of the quick cosmetic makeover of my beater coupe
I intentionally sprayed the black light in areas that you just don't want to see so that the red oxide was showing a lot to hide imperfections, haha. Wait, it is all an imperfection , ok, trying to hide the worst of it all. Here are couple shots of the finished product .
Damn, Jeff. It looks so much better with a little aged black paint on it. It was good to see you and Dan a few months ago..hope to see you guys this summer. My 34 is coming along...maybe be cruising with you guys before summer is over.
@NoSurf @hiboy32 @Rocky you three.... The rocky 33, The Jay-sweet resurrection coupe, and Kevin Bacon's bitchen 32... some huge influences in my life right here...
Thanks Jay. We sure have done a lot with our ol hotrods over the years. Thanks Wayne. It was good seeing you too. Hope to see you cruising the 34 this summer. that means alot to all of us.... Just building ol hotrods with whatever we can get our hands on.
