Jalopy Joker posted a 54 similar to mine. Most people add extra grill teeth ... and that looks great. Not too many get rid of all 5 ... really cleans it up, especially if you have a one-piece front bumper

 

Or you can add more teeth.

 

Those die cast teeth aren't super light, that grille bar must weigh 200 pounds!

Not much...a kool wheel treatment, a lowered stance and a set of keys in my hand. Great pics.

 

I can't remember for sure sure, but I think this one may actually be cut to HT height.

Who has the article about the Merc in Rod and Custom with the Desoto grille. It said something like $650 to replate each tooth. Or was it like $850. Or higher. I know it was an extremely high price.

 

Was this the car driven by a young kid(21). Eli or something. Took it on Americrusie in the mid 90`s. The motor went bad, so he bought a crate motor, installed it(hotel parking lot) and kept on going.

 

Mo, tell them about the accessory Bloomers. A feature we need to see a lot more.

 

The Bel-Air Bloomers, the aftermarket extension of the stock stainless gravel shield on the lower quarter panel, fix an "ugly" problem caused when running stock 53/54 fenderskirts. The stocker have an awful line to them, don't line up with front or rear of wheel opening.
I run aftermarket 'foxcraft' skirts with a lip on the bottom, goes over the quarter panel, not up in it. They won't work on a BelAir because of the dual long trim on the BelAir only quarter panel.
Sorry to jump in Mo, I know Jim asked you about the Bloomers. Also, doesn't appear the the Black Bloomered Bel Air has been 'cut'. Real nice looking car, tho.

 

I'm betting it's the same car, stanlow69, as this one IS Chevy powered.
The driver is no longer a young kid, however! (It happens to the best of us! )
