Here's my base for a mild custom. I'll be leaving the 230 flathead where it sits. Very few body mods planned, just need to take care of some sheetmetal work and replace the factory wiring.

I don't know why we don't see more of these customized.
Here is Eldon Titus' '56, for a little inspiration.

  3. Always liked that Plymouth of Eldon's. And like you said Big Swede, it's pretty mild as far as body mods go.

Yep, mine will likely keep most of the chrome/stainless as its all still in really good shape.

not sure, but as I recall, that is STOCK chrome trim on that P-mouth..not Pontiac.

Kinda like calling that grille a Shoebox grille?

A little earlier than the period date described at the beginning of the thread, but here's my '47.

Nice '47! I'd be more than happy to cruise in your coupe. Flathead?

    Town,

Yes. It has the original flathead in it. It's my daily driver. I've got another flathead sitting at home waiting to be built. Sourcing parts for it now.

Check this beautiful '56 Olds (from Kustomrama).

Grille is combo "51 Stude/'51 Packard, headlights are '53 Ford, side trim is '54 Buick, and tail lights '54 Packard.
(Take note, you young revisionists, who preach that the "whole point" of customizing was to "update" a car, rather than individualize/improve it).

AND, in it's day, this was not a "Mild Custom"!;) ("Semi Custom" or "Full Custom", yes. "Mild Custom", No!
