LOL one of my favorite comebacks for those who complain about cold weather is. You can always put more clothes on to be warm, but in public you can take just so much off to get cool
Two ways to figure out ratio. 1, Pull diff covewr off, there will be numbers stamped on the edge of the ring gear. Post them here and we will tell you how to find the ratio 2 Jack the back up,mark the tire or drum and mark the pinion yoke. Turn the pinion till tire or drum does one complete revolution , count how many times the pinion did a full turn. I am betting it will either be just a little more or less than 4. Hope this helps you Yeah, those wheels are killer!
I've lurked through the entire thread. Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it. Can't wait to see the next update.

I cleaned my '61 Plymouth gas tank that has 10yr old gas. You can buy Muratic acid at HDepot cheap. Mine came out spotless and I bought a gal. of WD-40 and sloshed it around to keep it from flash rusting. I just used part of the gal. of wd-40. I posted on a thread about cleaning tanks. Keep up the good work. Teach your little helper and you will have a big helper someday!!!
WHAT HE SAID!!!!! I'm totally jealous. Finish the bad dog up and show a a video!!!! That is SWEEEEETTTT!!!!!!!
Hang in there man.....you've came too far to stop now.!! When everything settles down you be back on it like a rat on a Cheeto..!! Awesome work your doing... I work outside too so I feel your pain on that.
Dude - With all the work you have into the Ford COE - Keep it and finish it - and stop getting other projects. If anything sell the other projects. Several projects came and went but I stuck with my COE build back in the day. Your build reminds me a lot of MR SHORTY. I moved it too, in pieces to a 1 1/2 car garage. It was too tall to fit out the garage door, so was 99% complete before seeing the light of day. Then I cut the garage door opening 11" taller, scabbed 11" onto the bottom of the tilt-out garage door and she was free. That was 20 years ago and now she's back in same garage for the redux. She enjoys a roll up garage door now with opener. Keep that desert patina - love the door graphics - wish I had kept my hood graphics - but that was before "patina" was in vogue. Start with just a pole building carport - then enclose it later. That way you can work in some shade. MR SHORTY Before & After circa 1989-1992:
Hey Mon!! I just got some meds!! Thank goodness for cialis!!!! Thanks man!! Jack Is Good man!!Plz comeback!!! It was an eventful 1 mile trip!!! Thanks for the tip. Thanks,I hope my helper gets the truck bug! Thanks again!!Its so tempting. Thank you. Working outside sucks!!!! thanks for the encouraging words. Thanks, man, your COE is just sooooo right!!glad you got it back.
Here is something to think about, I have 32" tires on my old Willys with a 5.14:1 gear. My RPM @ highway speed (65mph) is about 3600. That rear would do you real well with tallish tires and/or an OD. How tall are your tires actually going to be can you fathom a guess?
I would make the front openings smaller, if that's what you meant. I don't know what a FLTB hair is, but the back fenders should go forward just a bit. Although, they are so close you could probably get away with leaving them. A distant direct side picture would be better to judge from. Glad to see you're working on it!
Run larger wheels up front. Move the rear fender forward 1 inch or so and run matching larger wheels there too. 19s maybe, some light truck tire. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
IMHO the body would be too low. Don't cut the coils, put the bigger tires on and leave the height alone. Worry about stance after you get it going. It's a truck, don't be afraid to climb up into it. Or drive down bumpy roads. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Seth-from personal experience, cutting springs is tricky at best if your going to drive it. get it moving first, you can dick with the ride height anytime. when you do try putting blocks under the lower A arms at the height you want or think you want it and heat the bottom coil starting 1/2 a wrap from the bottom and it will settle down to your blocks. stop when they touch, you may have to heat 5+ inches of spring. try to heat evenly. when you cut springs you will end up buying new ones because they will rattle and posibly want to come out of the spring well when the upper a-arms extend upward especially at speed.
Meant to mention that if you want to move the diff back, use an offset block on the center bolt of the rear springpack. chev did this quite often, 47 chev cars were offset 1&1/4 of an inch. you can use a block or offset a saddle that the axle sits in. this will affect driveshaft length as well.
Seth, I think those tires look about right in the front fenders without changing the opening. What size rubber are they? How does the same tire look in the rear fender? Great work on this build, I love the look of your truck!!
Hey Seth! This is Jeff from over at FTE! I finally decided to join here because of the COE project. Looking pretty cool dude! Just wanted to say Hello for now. I will be back at some point. I gotta go write a book on the intro thread, but 5:30 AM is 3 hrs away..crashin fer now.
