We have less than 2 months to get this ready for the Detroit Autorama. It belongs to a friend we call Billy Poteet. Skidmarks did the Ch***is and a lot of the fabrication. He gave us a hell of a jumpstart. Exhaust and most of the plumbing is done. Today we got the doors fit, the seat fit and part of the floor done. Unfortunately the good flathead won't be ready in time. We'll have to run the mock up motor for a bit. Plans are for a cool mint green. The good flatty will have Sharp heads and Thickstun intake. Headlights and taillights are cool...you'll have to wait and see them. Also have some cool afetermarket wheel covers for the 40 Ford wheels. Stay tuned I'll update this as we go. Clark
Dare I say '50 Merc caps and rings and a suggestion? Ya know what, nevermind. I should be taking notes and keeping my mouth shut. Keep on keeping on!
Jeffrey....wait till you see what I got for this in the wheel department. I've never seen another set of the wheel covers I have for this. I do like Merc caps. I even have a pair of the 16 49 Ford wheels. Clark
Not sure who did the bodywork. It was bought like this. The patches look good from the inside. Will have to go over the bodywork. There are some waves and problems. Some of it just looks like too much filler....easy fix! Already had to do a lot of work to get the doors to fit. I'll get a pic of the wheel covers tomorrow. Clark
busy busy little shop ! must be that x-mas music got you guys hammerin' them out ,and to think i didn't get my x-mas list to ya yet !
Keep on truckin' cant wait to see it there! were in the same boat! my dad and i are finishing up his '50 ford for the show also. just gotta wire it up, do the interior and paint it... so will be thrashing til the day of the road trip!
It's great to see another 32 5 window going together mine is now a 7 window 32 coupe it's a new style kinda like a 3100 chevy ! no we had to cut out both corners where they choped it with a gas axe and the welds look like they sewed a cows *** up with a log chain !Man hammer on you can make it !!
The story behind this car goes like this;Ralph McCwen (I may have spelled it wrong) and his brother raced the car around New England in the 60's,it had an Olds rear,hydro-matic and a 340hp 327 with Hilborne Injection. The floors were cut out along with the subrails, plywood firewall and as you can see in the photo from the rear there was a bar that ran from inner fender to inner fender on bearings that acted as a hinge so the body could be lifted up like a funny car.The ch***is was a stock 32 with 1/4 elliptical springs in the rear and square tubing for crossmembers, welds were very crude.I sold off the ch***is and put it on an aftermarket ch***is with the help from Ray Deede in Suffield,Ct which may explain why skidmarks had trouble fitting it on his ch***is.Alot of work went into installing a new floor and subrails along with patch panels, the roof was filled back in the day.I sold the body to Billy back in 2006 when I had found a 3-window body. I'm glad to see that it's in good hands and will finally be finished. Here are some pics of pics, the 1/4 gl*** I still have.
OK here's a pic of the wheel covers. They're dirty right now but are NOS. Doug....cool to know some of the history. I looked the car over on the inside and the patch work was done really nice. I did find evidence the driver's door was bolted shut at one time. The floor is now done in the car and I started on the taillight stands. Should have pics of those tomorrow. Clark
