The guy I sold the ch***is to put a gl*** T body on it,sbc/auto,kept the suspension and the rollbar which he cut down, drove the car for awhile and then sold it to allstarderrick who was cut off at an intersection and rolled the car, that roll bar saved him from serious injury.
Made some taillight stands today. we're using some unknown cowl lights as taillights. Used the drillpress as a ghetto lathe to get some of it done. Lots of grinding and sanding. Might chrome them. Jr got the Alchemy made Pierce dash panel fit to the dash. Did a bunch of other stuff like fixing a 32 pedal and some other stuff not worth mentioning. Clark
This pic is for Skidmarks...the rest of you will have to guess why I did this. Sorry it's a bad pic. Clark
At least this project has a roof so Bill won't mess up his hair. Working on something for the show too. You guys going to have room for me? Good luck on your thrash. No doubt you'll get it done.
Here's what I'm doing with the gas pedal. The pic is of Jay Fitzhugh's car. I got the idea when I did the linkage on his car. His has a really rare Thickstun adapter to do seperate linkage for each carb. I liked it and planned on doing this with my 34...well Bill's car came first. Clark
Those tailight stands kick *** Clark... I had those same cowl lamps on the front of my '34 pickup as signals, never did find out what they were from.
Can't call it ghetto unless ya live in it....still call mine a vertical lathe even though I live in the most violent city in America.
Nice work Clark, I always enjoy your out of the box thinking. Good luck on making it to the show. Aren't thrashes fun?
Pete...how about an underprivlaged verticle lathe!! It's all about the thrash! I love the challenge. Clark
Not unless you moved to St. Louis, MO. Flint lost the "honor" this year. Cool build. I wish I could go to Detroit! Didn't it used to be in March? -Dave
Well....the yellow plug wires will look great with the yellow body and the blue motor matches the blue interior!!! The radiator, grill and hood top got mounted today. then i got to start on the headlight bar from hell. Going to make it match the taillight stands. If all goes well we should be blowing it apart by friday to start bodywork and paint. Should have pics tomorrow. Clark
Got the headlight bar from hell finished today. They are made to match the taillight stands. Both will get chromed. Also hope to chrome the rear wishbones. Should start tearing the car apart tomorrow for bodywork and paint. Clark
Clark - Nice work. Tell memore about the hubcap/trim rings. Were they an aftermarket item? Seems like I've seen somthing like them on early 50's Mopars... Do they attach on the outer rim like with clips like a trim ring or full cap? Thanks, Neal
Neal...yeah I've seen a bunch of these style covers for mopars. I have some of the Mopars ,trying to find more of these. I really don't know anything about them. I got them in a pile of parts. Had them laying around and decided to try them on a 40 wheel. The fit was too good. Have been waiting for the perfect project for them.....and this was it. There is no clips on these. The centercap holds it on. It also is held in place by the outer lip. The cover fits tight at the outer lip. Clark
Yeah...I have about 4 sets of them. Some have a larger center hole. Some have cutouts for clips and some have clips to hold them on. This is the only set that would fit. Clark
Those headlight bar stands are gorgeous. And the headlights are nice too. I have a couple sets of those with the trim on top (like the Eddie Dye roadster). It's all the little details which make a car stand out.
Super nice 5 window! The late nights and long days make for a tired body. Looks like you will make it in style.
