Your at that point the project where all the cool stuff is bought, all the big things are done and now it’s just grunt work. The enthusiasm of a new project is gone and it’s suck it up and get er done time. A lot of projects go on permanent hiatus or get sold at this point. We have all been there. How do you guys stay motivated?

I'll be 68 next month with three active projects and I'm making payments on a car I've wanted for over 40 years. I don't think I was meant to have a finished car on the road, you can't miss something you never had. I do enjoy looking at finished cars others own. Money, time and motivation seldom exist at the same time, if ever. Bob

I make sure all parts etc are there then devote a given amt of time to each phase of the project. If you don't divide it up into manageable parts it can be overwhelming .I have a general idea of the time lines and do my best to meet them. At 75 it takes a bit longer but I know what my capabilities are. Know to do a 40 will take me about 2 1/2 months of time to assemble from a roller-usually meet it unless other issue come up. Current 40 is on schedule and in uph now--looking for another one. I will not start a project without the funds up front.

I have two desirable early 30s convertible project cars, but I now also like/want/need to do non car stuff at 67. Sometimes I just walk away from one, to work on the others, or just do the non car stuff.

I have slacked of on project cars because I now have the hotrod as a daily and drove it every day or at least for an evening ride. I used to think that I liked the building instead, but I was so wrong. Each drive to wherever. is just a total blast, and I can't go 1/2 mile without getting a raised fist or thumbs up from others.

It's all mind related. If you rode along with others in their cars, you might get the spark back to have your own. It does not need to be perfect, just done enough to enjoy.
